Publication number: 20040004198Abstract: A device and method for reading out information stored in a storage layer using a receiving device for receiving emission radiation that has been emitted from the storage layer. In this connection the storage layer is supported on a support surface that is defined by an x-y plane and a relative movement is generated between the receiving device and the storage layer in the x direction. The receiving device or the storage layer is guided during the generation of the relative movement by a guide system, on a guide surface that is independent of the storage layer. When guiding the receiving device, the level of the guide surface in a z direction coincides with the level of the support surface in the z direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2003Publication date: January 8, 2004Inventor: Werner Stahl

Patent number: 5898184Abstract: An arrangement for detecting an image on a phosphorescent foil has two light conductors which lead to a common photomultiplier. The light conductors are spaced from one another by a small gap which allows a laser beam to pass between the conductors and excite the foil. The light conductors have flat end faces for the admission of light into the conductors, and the end faces are directed towards the foil as well as the gap. The end faces make an angle of 10 to 30 degrees with the foil. The light conductors are designed so that the greater part of impinging radiation is admitted into and travels the length of a conductor only when the path of the radiation and a normal to the respective end face define an angle which is equal to or less than the acceptance angle of the conductor. Each end face has an edge remote from the gap, and a location at which the laser beam impinges the foil defines a plane with a location on either edge.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1997Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: Agfa-Gevaert AGInventors: Werner Stahl, Peter Schwelle, Detlef Brautmeier

Patent number: 5356366Abstract: A pusher centrifuge, in which the pusher plate is moved cyclicly relative to a perforated drum in the axial direction in an advanced and a retracted position in a forward or a reverse movement, can be operated with a higher throughput if the drum is supplied with the mixture after leaving the advanced position of the pusher plate and up to the start of the following forward movement of said pusher plate. The mixture throughput can also be increased in that a smaller mixture quantity is supplied to the drum before reaching the advanced pusher plate position than after leaving the advanced pusher plate position.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1991Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Inventor: Werner Stahl

Patent number: 4997579Abstract: Procedure for draining of sludge, especially flocculent flotation sludge, including introducing water-sludge mixture into a settling tank with an overflow and removing the settled sludge layer from the settling tank with a slanted conveyor. Horizontal grooves are then pressed in the sludge layer by section roller rows arranged over the slanted conveyor belt. The water extracted from the sludge layer is collected and canalized in these horizontal grooves. The back-flowing water is then collected and guided off in water drainage systems arranged over the slanted conveyor. These water drainage systems are tilted toward and enter a front side of the horizontal grooves. This collected water may either be eliminated directly or returned to the settling tank.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1990Date of Patent: March 5, 1991Assignee: Saarbergwerke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Werner Padberg, Norbert Gros, Werner Stahl

Patent number: 4939920Abstract: The monitoring device is constructed in such a way that the temperature measurement takes place directly at the bearing and there is no need for detaching connecting lines during changing of rolls. The main features of the monitoring device for roll bearings, installed, for example, in the chock (1) of the work roll (3) of a roll stand, reside in a thermal limit value pickup (6) in contact with the roll bearing (7), as well as in a mechanical, spring-loaded transmission member (8) locked in place in the chock (1) by way of the limit value pickup, for acting on a signal generator (9) arranged outside of the chock (1) in the roll stand, this signal generator being actuated to shut down the rolling mill by automatic outward movement of the transmission member (8) after releasing its locking device by the limit value pickup (6) upon reaching a limit temperature of the roll bearing (7). The monitoring device is preferably intended for use in thin-gage strip and foil rolling mills having high rolling speeds.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1988Date of Patent: July 10, 1990Assignee: Achenbach Buschhutten GmbHInventors: Werner Stahl, Axel Barten

Patent number: 4759858Abstract: The invention relates to an improved process and apparatus to produce a filter cake formed by retained solids collected on a filter cloth during filtering. Accordingly, the filter cake is sub-divided into a plurality of filter cake elements which are kept separate from each other at predetermined distances. Further, impermeable zones on the filter cloth are formed around the filter cake elements. The filter cake elements and the impermeable zones are of a size that the filter cake elements can freely contract in any plane without cracking, while the filter cloth between the filter cake elements is covered by the impermeable zones.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1985Date of Patent: July 26, 1988Assignee: Zuricher Beuteltuchfabrik AGInventor: Werner Stahl
