  • Publication number: 20040004198
Abstract: A device and method for reading out information stored in a storage layer using a receiving device for receiving emission radiation that has been emitted from the storage layer. In this connection the storage layer is supported on a support surface that is defined by an x-y plane and a relative movement is generated between the receiving device and the storage layer in the x direction. The receiving device or the storage layer is guided during the generation of the relative movement by a guide system, on a guide surface that is independent of the storage layer. When guiding the receiving device, the level of the guide surface in a z direction coincides with the level of the support surface in the z direction.

  • Publication number: 20030074941
Abstract: A method for preadjusting and controlling strip planarity in flexible single-pass and reversing rolling of a strip-shaped material web using at least one work roll pair forming a roll gap and back-up rolls for the work rolls, and devices for roll adjustment, roll bending, roll displacement and roll balancing. The method includes, when rolling a thickness ramp for adjusting a desired strip profile shape over the strip width, determining corresponding adjustment parameters by accessing on-line a multidimensional data matrix produced off-line through a FEM model for all adjustment ranges of rolling force, roll displacement and bending control at all occurring strip widths.

  • Patent number: 6547972
Abstract: The invention relates to a centrifuge comprising a rotating drum (1) and comprising an ejection element (2) which rotates together with the drum in order to eject a cake (3) of solids, which is deposited on the inner side of the drum, in the axial direction (4). The ejection element (2) has a helix (5) which extends over the length of the drum. The helix (5) and the drum (1) are kinematically connected in such a manner that a reference point (A) at the circumference of the helix executes a rotational movement relative to the drum in the form of a sawtooth line (6, 8), with a first flank (7) of the sawteeth (8) corresponding approximately in its inclination (&agr;) to the pitch (&bgr;) of the helix whereas a second flank (9) of the sawteeth (8) corresponds to an approximately axial ejection movement.

Abstract: A roll stand with multiple rolls for rolling strip-shaped rolling stock has a roll frame and upper and lower working rolls mounted on the roll frame in a common vertical roll axis plane, wherein the rolling stock is guided between the upper and lower working rolls forming a roll set. Upper and lower support roll insert parts are mounted on the roll frame. Two upper support rolls are mounted in the upper support roll insert parts and support the upper working roll, and two lower support rolls are mounted in the lower support roll insert parts and support the lower working roll. The two upper and the two lower support rolls are arranged symmetrically to the vertical roll axis plane, respectively. Working roll bending devices are mounted on the roll frame and act on the upper and lower working rolls. Balancing devices are mounted on the roll frame and advance and balance the upper and lower support rolls.

  • Patent number: 5898184
Abstract: An arrangement for detecting an image on a phosphorescent foil has two light conductors which lead to a common photomultiplier. The light conductors are spaced from one another by a small gap which allows a laser beam to pass between the conductors and excite the foil. The light conductors have flat end faces for the admission of light into the conductors, and the end faces are directed towards the foil as well as the gap. The end faces make an angle of 10 to 30 degrees with the foil. The light conductors are designed so that the greater part of impinging radiation is admitted into and travels the length of a conductor only when the path of the radiation and a normal to the respective end face define an angle which is equal to or less than the acceptance angle of the conductor. Each end face has an edge remote from the gap, and a location at which the laser beam impinges the foil defines a plane with a location on either edge.

  • Patent number: 5356366
Abstract: A pusher centrifuge, in which the pusher plate is moved cyclicly relative to a perforated drum in the axial direction in an advanced and a retracted position in a forward or a reverse movement, can be operated with a higher throughput if the drum is supplied with the mixture after leaving the advanced position of the pusher plate and up to the start of the following forward movement of said pusher plate. The mixture throughput can also be increased in that a smaller mixture quantity is supplied to the drum before reaching the advanced pusher plate position than after leaving the advanced pusher plate position.

  • Patent number: 4997579
Abstract: Procedure for draining of sludge, especially flocculent flotation sludge, including introducing water-sludge mixture into a settling tank with an overflow and removing the settled sludge layer from the settling tank with a slanted conveyor. Horizontal grooves are then pressed in the sludge layer by section roller rows arranged over the slanted conveyor belt. The water extracted from the sludge layer is collected and canalized in these horizontal grooves. The back-flowing water is then collected and guided off in water drainage systems arranged over the slanted conveyor. These water drainage systems are tilted toward and enter a front side of the horizontal grooves. This collected water may either be eliminated directly or returned to the settling tank.

  • Patent number: 4939920
Abstract: The monitoring device is constructed in such a way that the temperature measurement takes place directly at the bearing and there is no need for detaching connecting lines during changing of rolls. The main features of the monitoring device for roll bearings, installed, for example, in the chock (1) of the work roll (3) of a roll stand, reside in a thermal limit value pickup (6) in contact with the roll bearing (7), as well as in a mechanical, spring-loaded transmission member (8) locked in place in the chock (1) by way of the limit value pickup, for acting on a signal generator (9) arranged outside of the chock (1) in the roll stand, this signal generator being actuated to shut down the rolling mill by automatic outward movement of the transmission member (8) after releasing its locking device by the limit value pickup (6) upon reaching a limit temperature of the roll bearing (7). The monitoring device is preferably intended for use in thin-gage strip and foil rolling mills having high rolling speeds.

  • Patent number: 4759858
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved process and apparatus to produce a filter cake formed by retained solids collected on a filter cloth during filtering. Accordingly, the filter cake is sub-divided into a plurality of filter cake elements which are kept separate from each other at predetermined distances. Further, impermeable zones on the filter cloth are formed around the filter cake elements. The filter cake elements and the impermeable zones are of a size that the filter cake elements can freely contract in any plane without cracking, while the filter cloth between the filter cake elements is covered by the impermeable zones.
