Abstract: A multi-tool apparatus for friction game calls includes a main body sized to house at least three surface treatment implements. The surface treatment implements may include a stone, a diamond surface, an abrasive pad, chalk, and a lined cavity for conditioning and cleaning elongate structures, such as strikers for slate-type calls. The multi-tool apparatus is intended to be transported in the field by the hunter for conditioning and cleaning all types of friction game calls.

Abstract: A game call assembly system and method includes a game call apparatus which has a reed assembly, a stopper, and a barrel. The reed assembly includes a sounding board, a reed, and a wedge which are inserted as a unit into an end of the stopper. A rotation restrictor in the form of a keyway is interposed between the reed assembly and the stopper to restrict relative rotational movement of the reed assembly relative to the stopper. An insertion stop is provided on the reed assembly to limit the extent to which the reed assembly is inserted into the stopper. A unique wedge allows adjustment of the wedge relative to the reed without changing the location of the reed relative to the sounding board.

Alternatively, a sheet of membrane material can be attached to the end of the mouthpiece assembly to create high quality tones. The resonance producing end piece allows the call to produce a resonant sound highly similar to a bugling bull elk.

The slots and posts allow the reed to be longitudinally adjustable relative to the sounding board of the game call apparatus. Another aspect of the game call apparatus comprises a moisture diverter system which involves a plurality of diverters formed in the sounding board to direct moisture away from the reed and toward a trough formed in the sounding board. The diverters also provide a precision tuning system for the game call to ensure the full high and low ends of the desired range of tones are produced by the game call.

One preferred game call comprises an array of feathers and a handle having a gripping portion for manually manipulating the call and a feather-receiving area. The array of feathers is sequentially grouped and nested closely together so as to resemble an actual wing of a game bird. Each feather comprises a stem end and a tip end. The feathers are arranged generally in a spaced relationship in a common plane. The stems converge toward a common point of intersection at the handle, and diverge outwardly away from the handle to form a plurality of acute angles with respect to each other. The feathers are flared outwardly in a cantilevered, sequential, fan-shaped, nested fashion from the handle. An end feather may be turned inwardly to simulate the make-up of an actual wing of a game bird.

Abstract: A game call is disclosed which includes a bell, a sound generator in communication with the bell, a bellows in communication with the sound generator, and a cap removably attached to the bell to substantially prevent the game call from sounding while the cap is attached to the bell and to prevent debris from entering the game call. To facilitate attachment of the cap to the bell, a groove is formed on the cap interior surface, the groove being sized to interlock with a lip formed on the bell exterior surface to provide a secure interlocking relationship between the cap and the bell. A cap tether which effectively couples the call to the game call is provided to prevent the cap from being lost or misplaced while not attached to the bell.
