    Abstract: High heat resistant elastic composite laminates, sealants, adhesives, and coatings developed from a resin blend. The resin blend is made up of methyl and optionally phenyl silsequioxane resins selected to produce silanol-silanol condensation silicone polymers formed in a slowly evolving reaction mass containing submicron boron nitride, silica and boron oxide fillers. The required ratio of submicron boron nitride to silica has been discovered for assuring the formation of a high temperature resistant elastic composite blend that will form intermediate flexible ceramic products up to 600 deg C., then continue to form preceramic then dense ceramic products from 600 to 1000 deg C. The thermal yield of the composite is generally greater than 90 wt. % at 1000 deg C. Composite products with different levels of heat transformation can be fabricated within the same product depending upon the thickness of the layers of reinforcement.

The inhaler comprises a drug entrainment device vice to a receive a package having a piercable lid containing a dose to be delivered, the device including a drug outlet tube terminating with a primary piercing element to pierce an opening in said lid when a package is located in the inhaler, a secondary piercing member to pierce a plurality of peripheral openings in said lid and, an airflow path to enable the supply of a charge of gas into the package via said peripheral openings to scour the interior of a pierced package such that all or substantially all of the dose is entrained in the gas and flows out of the package via the drug outlet tube. A medicament pack is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A method and cleaning composition for removing engine deposits from turbine components, in particular turbine disks and turbine shafts. This method comprises the following steps: (a) providing a turbine component having a surface with engine deposits thereon, wherein the turbine component comprises a nickel and/or cobalt-containing base metal; and (b) treating the surface of the turbine component with a cleaning composition to convert the engine deposits thereon to a removable smut without substantially etching the base metal of the turbine component. The cleaning composition comprises an aqueous solution that is substantially free of acetic acid and comprising: a nitrate ion source in an amount, by weight of the nitrate ion, of from about 470 to about 710 grams/liter; and a bifluoride ion source in an amount, by weight of the bifluoride ion, of from about 0.5 to about 15 grams/liter.

    Abstract: A process for selectively stripping a coating from a component of a turbomachine, and particularly a coating having a ceramic matrix that contains metallic particles dispersed therein that render the coating more difficult to remove from the component after the component has been subjected to elevated temperatures during operation of the turbomachine. The process generally includes immersing the component in an aqueous solution containing ferric chloride, nitric acid, and phosphoric acid, for a duration sufficient to attack the metallic particles in the coating. The component is then removed from the aqueous solution and its surface rinsed of the aqueous solution. The immersing and removing steps are then sequentially repeated a sufficient number of times to sufficiently attack the metallic particles to enable the coating to be mechanically removed from the component.

    Abstract: An inhaler for producing an inhalable aerosol of a powdered medicament includes an aerosolizing device in the form of a vortex chamber 1. The vortex chamber 1 has a tangential inlet port 3 and an axial port 2. The ratio of the diameter of the vortex chamber 1 to the diameter of the exit port 2 is between 4 and 12. The length of the exit port 2 is less than its diameter. The cross-section of the inlet port 3 is rectangular and is defined at the bottom and at the radially outermost edge by the walls of the vortex chamber 1. The cross-sectional area of the inlet conduit 7, which supplies the medicament in a gas flow to the inlet port 3, decreases in the direction towards the vortex chamber 1. The inlet conduit 7 may be curved. The inhaler is capable of repeatably producing an aerosol of a medicament with a high proportion of particles in the range 1 to 3 microns, while using a 20 relatively small amount of energy.

    Abstract: A method for selectively removing an aluminide coating from at least one surface of a metal-based substrate by: (a) contacting the surface of the substrate with at least one stripping composition comprising nitric acid at a temperature less than about 20° C. to degrade the coating without damaging the substrate; and (b) removing the degraded coating without damaging the substrate. Also disclosed is a method for replacing a worn or damaged aluminide coating on at least one surface of a metal-based substrate by selectively removing the coating using the above steps, and then applying a new aluminide coating to the surface of the substrate.     Abstract: Systems and methods for loading XML documents on demand are described. The system provides a Wrapper class for the XML Document class and the Element class. A user application then utilizes the Wrapper class in the same way that the Element class and Document class would be used to access any element in the XML Document. The Wrapper class loads external components as required. The external component retrieval is completely transparent to the user application and the user application is able to access the entire XML document as if it were completely loaded into a DOM object in memory. Accordingly, each element is accessible in a random manner. In one configuration, the XML document components or external components are stored in a database in a BLOB field as a Digital Document. The system uses external components to efficiently use resources as compared to systems using Xlink and external entities.
