  • Patent number: 11716626
Abstract: A network access control system includes a communication device and an authorization system. The communication device is configured to communicate time-critical messages through a time-sensitive network during scheduled time windows. The communication device is further configured to be communicatively connected to a candidate device and to receive a network access request from the candidate device while blocking the candidate device from communicating through the time-sensitive network. The authorization system is communicatively connected to the communication device and configured to authorize the candidate device via a multi-factor authentication protocol that requires a user of the candidate device to successfully provide multiple identification factors. In response to the authorization system authorizing the candidate device, the communication device is configured to grant the candidate device restricted access to one or more of send or receive approved messages through the time-sensitive network.

  • Patent number: 11712972
Abstract: An electrified vehicle may include an electric motor coupled to a battery to propel and brake the vehicle, a pedal generating a pedal position signal including a released position signal, friction brakes configured to provide a stopping force to vehicle wheels, and a controller programmed to control the motor and the brakes in response to the pedal being released to decelerate the vehicle to a stop, and to control the motor and an engine (in hybrid vehicles) to inhibit propulsive torque to the wheels after stopping due to the pedal released position until receiving driver input indicative of a request for moving the vehicle, such as depressing the brake or accelerator pedal, or activating an automated vehicle maneuver, such as a parking maneuver, cruise control, or stop-and-go control. Inhibiting torque may include inhibiting creep torque and/or operating the electric machine to charge the battery when the engine is running.

  • Publication number: 20230239971
Abstract: A system and method for providing warmth to a person, particularly a skier, in cold or inclement outdoor elements. Skiing is an outdoor winter sport where participants need to have proper clothing and equipment to stay warm in order to participate at optimal strength. Traveling on open-air lifts may cause skiers to become cold. The present disclosure provides a warming wrap that may be placed on a ski pole or other handheld device. A heating device integrated in the warming wrap transmits warmth through an outer layer whereas an insulating layer limits heat from escaping into the pole. The warming wrap contains a heating device that transmits heat from the heating layer to a person who touches the outer layer of the warming wrap. A grip layer alone or together with a fastener arrangement prevents the wrap from sliding down the pole. The preferred placement of the wrap on the pole rather than on a grip or in a glove or mitten provides the skier with better control and balance of the ski pole.

  • Patent number: 11710255
Abstract: An object identification and collection method is disclosed. The method includes receiving a pick-up path that identifies a route in which to guide an object-collection system over a target geographical area to pick up objects, determining a current location of the object-collection system relative to the pick-up path, and guiding the object-collection system along the pick-up path over the target geographical area based on the current location. The method further includes capturing images in a direction of movement of the object-collection system along the pick-up path, identifying a target object in the images; tracking movement of the target object through the images, determining that the target object is within range of an object picker assembly on the object-collection system based on the tracked movement of the target object, and instructing the object picker assembly to pick up the target object.

  • Publication number: 20230216304
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for coordinating and providing bidirectional energy transfer events between electrified vehicles and households or other structures, such as for supporting household loads associated with the structures during power outage conditions. In some implementations, available energy may be rationed from the vehicle to the structure based on a power outage restoration estimate. Rather than supporting household loads with constant energy during power outage conditions, the disclosed systems/methods may provide strategic rationing of bidirectional energy transfer in order to extend appliance operation for the duration of power outage conditions.

  • Publication number: 20230166478
Abstract: A composite wingbox structure formed of reinforced thermoplastic. The composite includes carbon fiber reinforcement and a plurality of insulation elements to localize the heat formed during the process of manufacturing the structure. The process of manufacturing the wingbox includes the steps of interleaving a series of insulations elements within a plurality of laminae and consolidating the insulation elements and laminae to form a laminate. The laminate is then aligned with a support structure such that the insulation elements overlie the supports structure. The laminate is then fused to the support structure using a non-contact heating process, such as inductive welding.

Abstract: Systems and methods for encoding a plurality of alternative streams of video content using multiple encoders in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. An encoding system includes multiple encoders. Each of the encoders receives a source stream of video content that is divided into portions. Each of the encoders generates portions of the plurality of alternative streams from the portions of the source stream. The portions of the alternative streams generated by a particular encoder are stored in a container for the particular encoder. Each encoder also generates index information for the portion of the alternative stream generated by the encoder that is stored in a manifest for the encoder.

  • Publication number: 20230096573
Abstract: Apparatus, and their methods of manufacture, including an integrated circuit device having metallization layers for interconnecting underlying electronic devices. Contacts contact conductors of an uppermost one of the metallization layers. A planarized first dielectric layer covers the contacts and the uppermost one of the metallization layers. An anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) stack is on the first dielectric layer between vertically aligned portions of an etch stop layer formed on the first dielectric layer and a second dielectric layer formed on the etch stop layer. Vias extend through the first dielectric layer to electrically connect the AMR stack and the contacts. A chemical-mechanical planarization (CMP) stop layer is on the AMR stack. A third dielectric layer is on the CMP stop layer. A passivation layer contacts the second dielectric layer portions, the third dielectric layer, and each opposing end of the AMR stack and the CMP stop layer.
