  • Publication number: 20150250140
Abstract: A tracking tag for aquatic animals may detect the occurrence of a predation event. The tag may include a pH sensitive material that degrades in the environment of an animal's gut. The degradation of the pH sensitive material causes a change in a detectable characteristic of the tag, which allows the tag to detect the predation event and adjust its operation accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20130282568
Abstract: A system for facilitating settlement of payments relating to transactions involving financial instruments among multiple participants is provided. An interface receives from participants first and second instructions associated with a financial instrument of a first form, and first and second instructions associated with a financial instrument of a second form. A first processor establishes an association between, and applies a first set of pre-settlement rules to, the first and second instructions associated with the financial instrument of the first form. A second processor establishes an association between, and applies a second set of pre-settlement rules to, the first and second instructions associated with the financial instrument of the second form.

  • Patent number: 8495784
Abstract: A device for treating a target surface, such as occurs when cleaning a window. The device has a squeegee blade or other member to apply pressure to the target surface. A sheet movably covers the blade, to present a fresh covering to the target surface with each use. The fresh surface provides for improved removal of the liquid from, or improved treatment of the liquid on, the target surface. Additionally a sheet may comprise a prewetted substrate to apply the liquid to the target surface. One or both of the sheets may be disposed in a cartridge insertable to and removable from the device.

  • Patent number: 8103271
Abstract: A data link radio system onboard an aircraft communicates with a plurality of ground stations that employ either an analog communication protocol or a digital communication protocol. A database contains information related to each ground station and its respective communication protocol. A transceiver communicates data bidirectionally with the ground stations. A receiver scans for an alternative ground station to use as an alternative to an active ground station with which the transceiver is communicating. When the active ground station becomes unavailable, the transceiver is automatically reconfigured for the analog or digital communication protocol used by the alternative ground station and then begins communicating with the alternative ground station.
