  • Patent number: 4634154
Abstract: A lightweight pup joint comprising a length of pipe with male and female union subs on the ends and having integral metallic fluid contacting components. The pipe is formed with a minimum wall thickness required for the intended pressure rating and includes a radially enlarged portion on one end to form a male sub. The other end of the pipe includes a small radial flange sized so a union nut can be moved over the flange. A split female sub is assembled over the flange and held together by a snap ring. An annular sealing member seals gaps between portions of the female sub, seals an interface between the flange and the female sub, and seals a gap between the flange and a male sub of an adjacent pipe. At least one ear on the pipe fits into a slot in the female sub to prevent rotation of the female sub when the union nut is threaded onto the female sub.

  • Patent number: 4601222
Abstract: A tool head assembly for use in preparing a tube for welding including a center pilot which is rotatable. The center pilot is adapted to enter a bore of a tube to center the tool head assembly by being provided with ball bearings which rotate around the internal surface of the bore of the tube. In addition, the ball bearings are moveable thereby enabling a required operative diameter to be selected which enables the center pilot to enter the bores of a batch of tubes having a range of internal bores. The center pilot is engageable with a tool holder which is connectable to a machine tool. The tool holder also supports a pair of bevelling tools and a facing tool.

  • Patent number: 4393906
Abstract: An offshore loading system especially suited for transferring petroleum products from a floating production vessel to a marine tanker. The system comprises a cantilevered support boom mounted on the deck of the production vessel, a fluid conduit extending generally horizontally along the boom from a riser on the deck of the production vessel, an articulated loading arm connected to the outboard end of the horizontal conduit, and a multiple swivel joint for connection between the outboard end of the loading arm and a pipe manifold on the deck of the marine tanker. The inboard end of the loading arm is connected by swivel joints to the outboard end of the horizontal conduit to facilitate pivoting the loading arm in both a vertical plane and a horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4280979
Abstract: Novel polyester diols are described containing aliphatically saturated divalent diacyl moieties and olefinically unsaturated divalent diacyl moieties in a mole ratio of 0.25:1 to 3:1; and divalent dioxy moieties which are linear and/or branched, preferably divalent branched dioxy moieties and divalent linear dioxy moieties in a mole ratio of 0.3:1 to 3:1, the diacyl moieties being bonded through ester linkage to the dioxy moieties in a mole ratio of at least 1.75 dioxy moieties per diacyl moiety, wherein the polyester diol is end-blocked essentially only by alcoholic hydroxyl groups and has an acid number of less than 3. The novel polyester diols are highly useful in the production of polyurethane/vinyl polymer copolymers by reaction with polyisocyanates and polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers.

  • Patent number: 4220177
Abstract: An offshore loading system especially suited for transferring petroleum from a floating storage and loading terminal to a marine tanker. The system comprises a support boom pivotally mounted on the deck of the terminal, a pair of fluid conduits extending generally horizontally along the boom from risers at the deck, a pair of vertical fluid conduits slidably connected to the outboard end of the boom and a pair of articulated manifold assemblies connected between the lower ends of the vertical conduits and the marine tanker. The outboard end of the horizontal conduits are articulated and are connected by swivel joints to the vertical conduits to facilitate raising and lowering the vertical conduits relative to the outboard end of the boom.

  • Patent number: 4143002
Abstract: Improvements in polymer/polyol compositions which are convertible by reaction with polyisocyanates to polyurethanes which are pigmented to a medium to dark color and which inherently chalk upon exposure to weather and wherein the polymer of the polymer/polyol composition is dispersed in the polyol thereof and is formed from one or more polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers. The improvement provides to said polyurethanes resistance to chalking on exposure to weather and in one embodiment comprises the presence, in the polymer/polyol compositions used to make the polyurethanes, of a metallocene from the class consisting of ferrocene, ferrocene derivatives, cobaltocene and nickelocene in an amount effective to provide chalk resistance. Optionally, the metallocene can be present in the polyisocyanate composition instead of the polymer/polyol composition.
