  • Patent number: 5442632
Abstract: A stale packet removal apparatus and method are provided for a digital processing system of the type having multiple devices that communicate via a plurality of unidirectional rings. Each requesting device sets a traversal count value in a packet and then sends the packet. When the packet is received at an agent, the agent changes the traversal count value and sends the packet onto another of the unidirectional rings. When a device receives the packet, the device identifies the traversal count value and discards the packet responsive to a predefined traversal count value.

  • Patent number: 5366340
Abstract: An end effector for a robotic assembly for acquiring and manipulating articles having a substantially cylindrical aperture therein. The end effector has a cylindrical gripping portion having radially expandable fingers and a collar portion adapted to bear on the article. When the fingers are inserted into the aperture in the article and expanded the object is gripped over a large portion of the circumference of the aperture. The article is then translated from a vertical to horizontal position. The gripping portion is provided with a flat portion to allow the article to be contacted against a stop for easy withdrawal of the fingers. The entire cylindrical gripping portion is flexibly mounted to the robotic assembly to allow acquisition of an article presented to the gripping portion of the end effector in an off vertical alignment.

  • Patent number: 4333096
Abstract: A seed planter monitor is used with a traveling seed planter operable to periodically dispense seeds in each of a plurality of rows. The monitor, preferably a microcomputer device, comprises individual row counters for counting the seeds planted in each row. The monitor determines the row having the highest deviation from the average number of seeds planted per row. Whenever the maximum deviation exceeds a predetermined limit, an alarm signals an error condition to the planter operator. The monitor also senses and warns the operator of any stoppage occurring in any of the rows within a relatively short stoppage distance. Planting data is displayed to the operator during planting.
