  • Publication number: 20150031388
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for generating geofences. One of the methods includes receiving, at a mobile device, a signal emitted by a merchant device associated with a merchant. If the signal is emitted by a merchant device associated with a merchant and the distance between the mobile device and the merchant device satisfies a threshold, a notification is provided on the mobile device indicating proximity of the merchant associated with the merchant device.

  • Publication number: 20140373448
Abstract: A safety gate is provided including a frame having two generally vertically extending pillars, each pillar having a substantially perpendicularly cross bar attached to it and extending horizontally at the bottom, and a hollow bar surrounding at least part of each cross bar. At least one of the cross bars is formed with an array of catches that cooperate with a uni-directional locking mechanism within the catched cross bar to permit linear motion of the catched cross bar within the surround bar in a single direction. The safety gate includes a cantilever foot pedal connected to the uncatched cross bar that pivots between an upward and open position and a downward and closed position to move the surround bare in relation to the uncatched cross bar and engage the locking mechanism to lock and unlock the frame.

  • Publication number: 20140144983
Abstract: A decoding system with a decoding engine running on a tablet. The decoding engine decodes signals produced from a read of a buyer's financial transaction card, accepts and initializes incoming signals from a read of a buyer's financial transaction card until the signals reach a steady state, detects the read of the buyer's financial transaction card once the incoming signals are in a steady stat, identifies peaks in the incoming signals and digitizes the identified peaks in the incoming signals into bits. A transaction engine runs on the tablet and is coupled to the decoding engine.

  • Patent number: 8701996
Abstract: A decoding system, with a decoding engine, runs on a mobile device. The decoding engine decodes signals produced from a read of a first party's financial transaction card. The decoding engine accepts and initializes incoming signals from a read of the first party's financial transaction card until the signals reach a steady state, identifies peaks in the incoming signals and digitizes the identified peaks into bits. A transaction engine is coupled to the decoding engine. The transaction engine receives, as its input, decoded first party's financial transaction card information from the decoding engine, and serves as an intermediary between the first party and a second party. The first party does not have to share his/her financial transaction card information with the second party. The transaction engine is configured to be coupled to a payment system and a first party's financial transaction card institution or a first party's financial account.

  • Publication number: 20140066090
Abstract: A method of generating geofences includes a) storing a plurality of stored locations; b) obtaining a first current location of a mobile device; c) identifying a plurality of nearest locations to the first current location; d) identifying an outermost location and determining an outer bound location, the outer bound location being located farther from the first current location than any of the plurality of nearest locations other than the outermost location; e) generating, for each nearest location except the outermost location, a local geofence around the nearest location; f) generating a triggering geofence around the first current location, the triggering geofence perimeter including at least the plurality of nearest locations other than the outermost location but not including the outer bound location; g) upon detecting that the mobile device has exited the triggering geofence iterating steps b) to f) for a new current location of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8662389
Abstract: A method of paying a second party is provided. A first party accesses the names of one or more qualified second parties. The second parties (i) have an association with the payment service, and (ii) if they do not have an established association with the payment service have established one prior to payment. The first party has an association with the payment service. A tab is opened by the first party that can be selected by the second party at any geographic location of a first party's mobile device. The second party is only able to charge a first party's financial account when the first party's mobile device is within a defined geographic area. The tab is a relationship between the first party, payment service and second party. The second party can engage in a financial transaction when the first party is within the defined geographic area.

  • Publication number: 20140052613
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for facilitating a merchant transaction comprises providing a list of one or more merchants that are in geographic proximity to a geolocation of a payer, and receiving a request from the payer to conduct a transaction with a merchant among the one or more merchants. The request can be received by a computer system programmed to facilitate the transaction. The transaction can then be processed with the aid of the computer system. A tip selection, which can include a tip amount, can be applied to the transaction. In some cases the tip selection is received from the payer as a selectable option. In other cases, the tip selection is automatically applied to the transaction without involvement from the payer during or upon the termination of the transaction.
