Abstract: A quantitative, objective method utilizing physiological data is provided for evaluating the modality of learning for a user and determining in which modality the user is most effective at learning. The method utilizes a session where the user is provided a set of information while wearing sensors for measuring physiological data such as brain electrical activity, and where the physiological data values are then correlated with learning modalities. The process can be performed quickly, without the bias and poor granularity of self-reported learning modality assessments. This method can be employed before the design of teaching curricula to ensure that learners are receiving information in the modality that suits them best and enables them to learn most effectively. This method may also be employed with a testing session to further correlate physiological data, learning modality, and testing performance.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that facilitate automated network address determinations and communications between roaming peers. In one aspect, a network communications system is provided. The system includes methods for updating a resolution provider with a current host transport address and for determining a roaming hosts service address and port information. Other processes include opening and mapping ports through Network Address Translators and Firewalls and opening/mapping ports in conjunction with cascaded Network Address Translators.

Abstract: An illuminated purse that includes a ladies purse with an interior lighting system comprising a battery source, a magnetic switching means, a LED lighting means arranged in a vertical strip of 3 to 10 lights located in the lining of the four comers of the purse to illuminate the corners of the purse. The Strip may also be mounted horizontally at tile top, bottom, or center of the purse depending on the design.

Abstract: Methods of introducing genetic material into cells of an individual and compositions and kits for practicing the same are disclosed. The methods comprise the steps of contacting cells of an individual with a polynucleotide function enhancer and administering to the cells, a nucleic acid molecule that is free of retroviral particles. The nucleic acid molecule comprises a nucleotide sequence that encodes a protein that comprises at least one epitope that is identical or substantially similar to an epitope of a pathogen antigen or an antigen associated with a hyperproliferative or autoimmune disease, a protein otherwise missing from the individual due to a missing, non-functional or partially functioning gene, or a protein that produces a therapeutic effect on an individual. Methods of prophylactically and therapeutically immunizing an individual against HIV am disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions and kits for practicing methods of the present invention are disclosed.

Abstract: A data coherence system includes a generation number written to a data track of a logical sub-system. The generation number is compared to a corresponding generation number in a processing device when it is initialized. If the two generations numbers are the same, the generation numbers are incremented and saved. If not, cache associated with the logical sub-system residing within the processing device is erased and the generation numbers are reset.

Abstract: A collapsible sports ball bag for storing one or more basketballs, wherein the bag can be removably fastened to a stationary or portable basketball goal pole to provide weather-resistant storage. The collapsible sports ball bag has a carrying handle and a storage section with a hingedly-fixed flap closure, wherein the flap closure is secured to the storage section via a zipper. A cover extends over the flap closure and zipper thereof to provide protection from weather elements. The flap closure holds accessories, such as a pump, needle and/or tube extension. Additionally, when not in use, the collapsible sports ball bag can be collapsed to a flat profile to reduce overall size, and, thus, storage space.

Abstract: Systems and methods may be utilized to obtain and evaluate data from various information resources associated with a diagnostic testing business for the purpose of identifying at-risk clients. A set of risk indicators is defined. Each risk indicator relates to a type of event that is determined to be indicative of client risk, and about which data may be obtained from information resources associated with the testing process. Data is obtained from the various information resources through respective interfaces and is stored in a risk indicator database. A reporting application associated with the risk indicator database applies score generation rules to the risk indicator data associated with each risk indicator to generate a risk score associated with each risk indicator for each client. The risk scores may then be evaluated to identify at-risk clients and to identify systemic problems of the organization that occur across many clients.

Abstract: Locating and confirming glottal events within human speech signals is disclosed. In a method of one embodiment of the invention, a signal representing digitized, sampled human speech is received, and at least one speech segment is located within the signal. One or more higher energy sections within each speech segment are also located, as well as glottal events within each speech segment based on these higher energy sections. The glottal events located within each speech segment are confirmed, including registering at least some of the glottal events with adjacent glottal events. Such confirmation allows for more accurate speaker verification to be performed.

Abstract: The marine vessel monitoring system of the present invention enables marine vessel owners to monitor their vessels when they are unable or unavailable to personally do so. The system of the present invention provides an efficient method for inspecting and repairing a designated marine vessel at periodic intervals and for reporting the results of such inspections and repairs to the vessel's owner in a timely manner for the owner's review and consideration.
