  • Publication number: 20210390642
Abstract: This document describes methods and systems for delivering digital services to nodes of a distributed network. To do this, an edge server that is communicatively connected to a communication network receives, from a consumer node, a service request for a first requested digital service. The edge server (acting as a digital resource broker) also will receive, from each a plurality of service provider nodes, an identification of one or more digital service element capabilities that the service provider node is able to provide. The digital resource broker will identify a set of service provider nodes who have identified digital service element capabilities that are components of the requested digital service. The digital resource broker will create a channel that includes the set of service provider nodes and, for each node, its identified capabilities that are components of the requested service.

  • Patent number: 11200211
Abstract: When a local server that is connected to a wireless local area network (WLAN) receives a service request from a first electronic device, the server identifies a resource to provide one or more elements of the service. The server assigns the resource to provide the service element(s). The local server also selects one or more mutual distributed ledgers (MDLs) having parameters that correspond to the service request. The local server generates and transmits, to a gateway server, a transaction record having a format that corresponds to the selected MDL. This enables the local server to facilitate the delivery of services such as spectrum sharing, content streaming, and the like using WLAN-connected devices to facilitate delivery of the service. It also enables the gateway server to update each selected MDL with a transaction ledger that follows each selected MDL's format.

  • Publication number: 20210316087
Abstract: An inhaler includes a body portion defining a flow path for the administration of medicament to a patient, and an entrained polymer in the flow path and being secured to or integral with the body portion. The entrained polymer has a monolithic material that includes a base polymer, an active agent (e.g., desiccant and optionally odor adsorber), and optionally a channeling agent. Optionally, the entrained polymer in a 16 gram quantity releases less than 4 parts per million volatile organic compounds after heating at 60° C. for up to 72 hours, optionally zero parts per million.

  • Patent number: 10865019
Abstract: A container (2) includes a container body (10) having a base (12), a sidewall (14), and a body extension portion (16), the body extension portion terminates at a body extension outer surface; a lid (40) connected to the container body and that is pivotable to move the container between a closed position and an open position, the lid comprising a cover portion (42) and a lid extension portion (44) extending therefrom and terminating at a lid extension outer surface, the lid extension portion having an underside. The body extension outer surface and the lid extension outer surface are generally co-planar when the container is in the closed position. The body extension portion hits n window (24) configured to provide access to the underside when the container is in the closed position to enable a user to apply upward pressure on the underside to move the container from the closed position to the open position.

  • Patent number: 10240486
Abstract: A new power generation thermodynamic cycle is described that eliminates need for bulk liquid condensation and vaporization steps required in conventional ORC power systems. An exemplary harmonic adsorption recuperative power cycle system offers more efficient power generation as compared with conventional ORC systems. A multibed adsorption system is used to provide thermal compression for the cycle. An adsorption compressor contains a sorbent with strong adsorption affinity for the working fluid in the pores while well outside the P-T conditions needed to condense the liquid phase, allowing the adsorption compressor to reduce operating pressure exiting the expander.

  • Publication number: 20080280285
Abstract: Disclosed are methods, devices and systems for biological and chemical sample processing using microfluidic chips. The disclosed microfluidic chips contain at least two detection zones for interacting with pre-selected RNA sequences, DNA sequences, antibodies, or antigens to determine their presence in the sample. Systems are also described comprising a cassette having at least one port and a sample inlet in fluid communication with a detection zone for interacting with pre-selected RNA sequences, DNA sequences, antibodies, or antigens, or mixtures thereof, if present, in a sample. Methods for concurrent testing of at least two of RNA, DNA, antibody, and antigen in a sample are also described, as are methods for testing for pre-selected pathogens and microfluidic methods.

  • Publication number: 20070053934
Abstract: The invention is directed to compositions comprising polyvalent complexes containing a biocompatible polymer backbone to which is attached a plurality of monomeric anti-microbial peptides and to methods for using such complexes to stabilize anti-microbial peptides for treating or preventing a disease or condition resulting from infection with a microbe. Multivalent derivatives of existing antimicrobial peptides in which several peptides are covalently linked have been investigated. The resulting construct may contain up to 30 or more units, and exhibits a significant enhancement of anti-microbial effect relative to the free peptides: on the order of a ten fold improvement in effectiveness, suggesting that higher multimerization can indeed lead to more effective agents.

  • Publication number: 20050278310
Abstract: A system for managing and organizing content includes a source capable of operating at least one application (i.e., content manager, taxonomy manager, etc.). The application(s) are capable of providing a plurality of pieces of content and a plurality of master taxonomies, each master taxonomy including at least one piece of content placed at one or more locations. After providing the pieces of content and the master taxonomies, the application(s) can identify a subset of the pieces of content and at least one master taxonomy, where the subset includes at least one piece of content. The application(s) can then generate at least one client taxonomy based upon the identified subset and the master taxonom(ies) such that the subset of the pieces of content can thereafter be organized in the client taxonom(ies). The system can also include a client capable of organizing the subset in the client taxonom(ies).

  • Publication number: 20050273460
Abstract: A system for providing content includes a source and a client. The source is capable of generating a representation of the content, the content being hierarchically-structured and including at least one item having an associated type. The source is capable of generating a representation including an identity table and at least one type table, each item of content being included in the identity table, and included in a type table based upon the type of the item. Thereafter, the source can be capable of providing the representation of the content. The client is capable of receiving the representation of the content, and accessing at least a portion of the content based upon the representation. The client can also be capable of receiving a query for at least one item of content, searching the representation for the item(s), and accessing at least a portion of the content including the item(s).
