  • Patent number: 5208370
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of reducing the levels of protoanemonin present in aqueous monomer solutions by adding an effective amount of one or more para-phenylenediamines having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are the same or different radical selected from hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl, phenyl or methoxyphenyl with the proviso that at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is hydrogen; R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are the same or different radical selected from hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl, methoxy or ethoxy with the proviso that at least one of R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 is hydrogen; and salts thereof.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4856430
Abstract: A novel wall breaching apparatus may be constructed with sufficiently small weight and dimensions that it is effectively portable, while being sufficiently energetic to breach a thick wall. The apparatus consists of a number of similar panels, each including a matrix and a linear shaped charge embedded in the matrix. Each end of the charge is located adjacent an edge of the panel. The panels are configured to be assembled edge to edge in an open condition with the linear shaped charges arranged end to end, or face to face in a closed condition, with the linear shaped charges on the inside of the assembly. Thus, the apparatus may be collapsed to the closed position for storage and transport and assembled in its open condition to produce a single "semi-continuous" linear charge of fixed shape. The arrangement of the shaped charges end to end produces the "semi-continuous" linear shaped charge arrangement without the dimensional penalties associated with a continuous charge of the same size and configuration.

  • Patent number: 4283020
Abstract: An electronic control system (9) controls the movement of a distributer (19) as the distributor guides strand (11) alternately onto reels (12 and 13). Digital signals are generated representing the instantaneous position of the distributor (19) and end-points of travel of the distributor. A controller (38) generates a signal when a coincidence of the instantaneous position of the distributor (19) and alternate ones of the end-points of travel of the distributor occur. The signal is used to reverse the direction of travel of the distributor (19) thus resulting in a uniform distribution of the strand (11) onto the reels (12 and 13). As each of the reels (12 and 13) become full, a signal is generated which causes the distributor (19) to proceed at a high rate of speed toward the back flange of the reel regardless of the direction of travel at that time. This facilitates the cutover of the strand (11) from a full reel to an empty reel.

  • Patent number: 4171808
Abstract: An improved basketball court and method for use by different forms or classes of players wherein a conventional basketball court has designated thereon a central court area used by one form and a peripheral court area designated for use by the second form wherein each of two teams have members of both forms on said teams such that the members of the two forms on one team play together in a cooperative manner, and the members of each form play on a team play against members of that form on the opposite team. The game played on the improved basketball court is substantially the same game as played on conventional basketball courts, with the advantage being for example, that male and female players can play in the same game on the same team without having to come into violent physical contact during the progress of the game.

  • Patent number: RE29772
Abstract: A urethane elastomeric impact modifier is provided for 15 rigid thermoplastic polymers. Polyester and polyether urethane elastomers are grafted to the acrylic polymers. Preferred is a polyester, diisocyanate and glycol urethane elastomer terminated with a functional monomer capable of ethylenic polymerization grafting with the acrylic polymer. The modified polymers offer an improved balance of physical properties including higher impact strength, clarity, and weather resistance.
