The body includes a base configured to be coupled to a receptacle, a top portion coupled to the base, a dispensing aperture in the top portion, and a recess extending around at least a portion of the periphery of the top portion. The top portion has a first contour, at least a portion of which is non-planar. The cover includes a bottom surface having a second contour and a skirt configured to be received within the recess in the top portion when the cover is in the closed position.

Abstract: A closure for a container includes a base with at least one opening for dispensing a material from the container and a cover coupled atop the base. The cover includes at least one flap that is movable between an open position for dispensing the material and a closed position for covering the opening. At least one projection extends from the flap to releasably retain the flap in the closed position. A tab extends from the projection. A guide surface is provided on the tab and is configured to contact an edge of the opening when the flap is moved toward the closed position and is configured to create a wedging interaction with the edge of the opening when the flap is moved further toward the closed position. The flap is retained in the closed position by the wedging interaction of the tab and the edge.

Abstract: An integrally-formed cover for a container is disclosed. The integrally-formed cover comprises a cylindrical portion, a top portion, a shaker flap, a spooning flap, and an upwardly projecting lip. The top portion has a plurality of shaker openings and a spooning opening. The shaker flap and the spooning flap each have an outer edge with a downwardly extending skirt. The shaker flap and spooning flap are configured for selective movement between an open position and a closed position. The lip extends substantially around the shaker flap and the spooning flap and is configured to provide a guide for positioning a bottom of a container stacked on the top portion of the container cover. The cover may also comprise a sealing projection. The sealing projection may be circular and may be disposed inside the cylindrical portion. A container comprising a closed-bottom receptacle having an open and cylindrical upper end to which an integrally-formed cover is secured is also disclosed.

A cover is coupled to the base and includes an underside configured to substantially correspond to the contour and a rib extending downwardly from the underside to move matter accumulated on the topside of the base into the container when the cover is moved toward the closed position.

This capability is provided by causing the top to cool to room temperature when the flaps are closed into a warped shape, either concave or convex in which the hinge formed integral with the flap and the rest of the cover is curved with the flaps closed. This could be done by careful design of the cap such that it warps this way during cooling naturally, or by pressing on the cap during cooling to “set” the cap and hinge in a curved shape. When the flap is opened, the arrangement of the flap and hinge reduce the chance that the flap will return to its as-molded position and jam.
