  • Patent number: 5974849
Abstract: The present invention is a tool for manually altering the angle of a sheetrock corner bead strip from approximately 90.degree. to an angle larger than 90.degree.. The tool includes a main frame having a base and opposing side walls. The main frame is adapted to receive and hold axles for at least two spreader wheels and at least two corner holder wheels. The spreader wheels with axles are mounted in series alignment with one another for rotation within the main frame and the corner holder wheels with axles are also mounted in series for rotation within the main frame. The spreader wheels and the corner holder wheels are all located in a single plane. In a preferred embodiment, the spreader wheels have walls which form truncated V-shaped sides for maintaining a predetermined angle. In another preferred embodiment, the predetermined angle is approximately 120.degree. or approximately 135.degree. and the truncated V-shaped sides correspondingly form an angle of approximately 120.degree. or approximately 135.

  • Patent number: 5871318
Abstract: A track fastener apparatus for use with a locking track of the type used to secure a seat or cargo apparatus to the floor of a vehicle. The track fastener includes at least one locking disc sized to fit in a predetermined one of the enlarged openings in the track, and mounted for movement between an unlocked position wherein the locking disc is positioned above the enlarged opening in the track and a locked position wherein the locking disc is positioned in the enlarged openings in the track and engaged by the locking segments of the locking track adjacent the enlarged openings thereby preventing movement of the track fastener along the length of the track. A vertical bore extends through the track fastener housing and communicates with the bottom side of the track fastener housing adjacent the at least one locking disc. A lock actuator is positioned in the bore and operatively connected to the locking disc for moving the locking disc between the locked and unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 5690684
Abstract: A retainer assembly for a defibrillator paddle has a resilient back plate. The back plate secures to a back wall in a pocket by a fastener positioned to allow pivotal movement of the back plate. The back plate has a bracket at its inner edge, retaining an edge of the base of the paddle. A lip extends forward from an outer edge of the back plate to overlie an outer edge of the paddle. The lip is within a tab section that deflects into a recess if a user exerts a sufficient outward pull on the handle.

  • Patent number: 5413650
Abstract: The mechanical properties of aluminium alloy extrusion in a specified transverse direction are improved by upsetting the extrusion billet in at least one direction chosen with reference to the specified transverse direction. For example, the extrusion billet may be of generally circular cross-section with one or two opposite segments arising. The extrusion may be subjected to thermomechanical treatment and/or vibration treatment. A preferred final thermomechanical treatment is also described.

  • Patent number: 5309748
Abstract: A billet of extrudable metal, particularly an Al alloy is tapered at its back end. The billet is compressed longitudinally so that the metal of the tapered end is upset transversely. The compressed billet is hot extruded. The upsetting improves the fracture toughness of the back end of the extrusion. This is useful in long extrusions for the aircraft industry.

  • Patent number: 4974369
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward flexible embossed supportive backings for coated abrasives, which are used with "sanding" tools. The supportive backing is made from a flexible elastomeric material embossed on one side with a predetermined pattern. The embossment pattern incudes an uninterrupted narrow border along the edges that lay perpendicular to the primary of travel during use, a plurality of narrow grooves within the border which disrupt the surface area of the elastomeric material, and lines of severance that partially separate the edges of the material from its main body. The surface acts as the supportive backing for a coated abrasive as it is worked over a roughened surface. The grooves created by the embossment pattern allow the coated abrasive to deform as it encounters high points on a roughened surface, which allows the abrasive to surround the contours of the roughened surface and greatly increases the efficiency of the coated abrasive.

  • Patent number: 4295242
Abstract: A corner beading cleaner usable to shape hardened joint compound adjacent convex corner beadings including a body which defines a handle area and a lip area extending outwardly from the handle area, the lip having a securement device attached thereto being adapted to detachably secure a tool means with respect to the handle area, the tool means including two blade edges defining a blade cutting surface of less than 90 degrees in order to smooth the joint compound between the bead of the convex beading member and the surrounding joint compound area, the corner beading cleaner securement device including a clamping plate extending laterally across the lip such as to secure the tool between the clamping plate and the lip when the clamping plate is secured with respect to the lip, the clamping plate further possibly including ears extending downwardly from the lateral sides thereof to prevent lateral dislodgement of the tool.
