  • Publication number: 20060040728
Abstract: A gaming device including a plurality of primary reels with a plurality of symbols on each of the primary reels. At least one and preferably a plurality of the symbols on the primary reels are designated as activator symbols. An activator symbol is a symbol that, when generated on a primary reel, is adapted to cause the activation of at least one supplemental reel. The supplemental reel includes a plurality of supplemental symbols. After the primary reels spin to generate a plurality of symbols, the gaming device determines if an activator symbol is generated on the primary reels. If no activator symbol is generated on the primary reels, any award based on one of or a combination of the generated symbols is determined and any determined award is provided to the player. If an activator symbol is generated on the primary reels, the supplemental reel is activated and displayed to the player. The activated supplemental reel spins to generate a plurality of supplemental symbols.

  • Patent number: 6909910
Abstract: Described is a system and method for updating a contact and adding a new contact from a call log in a communications device. The system includes a contact manager that is directed towards creating and updating call contact cards in a contact database with information retrieved from call logs of phone calls made to or from the communications device. In one embodiment, information is pre-populated into a predetermined data field of the contact card, thereby reducing workload to a user. The method includes determining if a request is for updating an existing contact card or for adding a new contact card to the contact database. The update or addition is made with information retrieved from call logs. Call information is pre-populated into a predetermined data field of the contact card, when it is determined that the request is to add a new contact card to the contact database.

  • Publication number: 20040075648
Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for a user of a mobile computing device to input special characters using a modifier key on a keyboard. The special characters include accented characters associated with regular characters. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method for configuring a mobile computing device for a user to enter special characters is provided. The computer-implemented method includes inputting a regular character in response to a user pressing a key associated with the regular character. After the regular character has been inputted, the user may input a special character by pressing a modifier key. A special character associated with the regular character is determined in response to the user pressing the modifier key. The special character may be determined based on the number of times that the user has pressed the modifier key. The inputted regular character is then modified to the special character.

  • Publication number: 20030101092
Abstract: A method for software distribution and compensation with replenishable advertisements is provided The software may be audio (e.g., music), a game, an application program, a database, or any other digital content. The method couples at least one advertisement to the software and provides the software/advertisement to a computer. The software/advertisement can then be installed on the computer and the computer can use both. While using the software, usage data is recorded on the computer and later posted to an external medium. The external medium may be a server associated with an advertiser or a financial institution. After a predetermine event but before the posting, at least one aspect of the software is prevented from being used. The predetermined event may be a number of times that the software is used, a lapse of time, or an attempt to use a certain portion of the software. After posting, the software can continue to be used.

  • Patent number: 6266438
Abstract: A color space transformation device includes a sensor bar. The sensor bar includes a plurality of sensor chips. Each sensor chip scans a unique section of an original image to produce first data in a first color space. A memory means stores groups of coefficients. Each group of coefficients corresponds to one of the sensor chips. A processor independently transforms each of the sections of the first data to a respective section of a second data. The transformation is performed as a function of one of the groups of coefficients corresponding to the sensor chip which produced the first data.

  • Patent number: 5573115
Abstract: A merchandising and shipping box for implements, such as mops and brooms. The box may be used for shipping the implements as well as for supporting the implements on display. The box includes opposing side panels, front and rear panels, a bottom panel and a top panel. The top panel is provided with a plurality of apertures arranged in two spaced rows, and an elongated slot extending between the two rows of apertures. The apertures are adapted to support handle portions of the implement with head portions thereof oriented upwardly, and the elongated slot is connected to an enlarged transverse slot for receiving head portions of the implements therethrough whereby the implements may be positioned within the elongated slot with the head portion oriented downwardly. The different orientations of the implements within the box facilitates viewing of the implements as well as provides a stable support for the implements while on display.

  • Patent number: 4648559
Abstract: A duty-cycle type electromagnetic injector assembly has a valve and cooperating valve seat with the valve being positioned away from or against the valve seat depending upon whether an associated electrical coil is energized; a housing generally contains the valve and valve seat, a locator or guide closely confines the valve permitting the valve to be freely moved toward and away from the valve seat while constraining movement of the valve in other directions; the locator or guide is in turn prevented from movement by a retainer operatively connected to the housing and frictionally engaging the locator or guide.

  • Patent number: 4179245
Abstract: An accelerating pump system is shown having a chamber into which fuel from a fuel reservoir of fuel bowl is drawn and then, when and as required, ejected, as by a displaceable diaphragm within said chamber, into a passage leading to accelerating fuel nozzle structure for discharge into the induction passage of the related carburetor or fuel metering means; a vent passage serves to communicate between the fuel reservoir and the chamber as to enable a portion of the fuel within the chamber to be returned to the fuel reservoir when the diaphragm is being displaced for ejecting fuel into the said passage; a thermostatic valve serves to preclude such communication between the fuel reservoir and the chamber except when the fuel temperature (employed as an indicia of engine and indirectly ambient temperature) within the chamber attains a predetermined relatively elevated temperature.
