  • Publication number: 20120254141
Abstract: A computerized system and method for analyzing color consistency on automotive parts and for providing feedback on painting processes occurring in an assembly plant. The system and method facilitates data collection and analysis at numerous points during the assembly paint processes and the identification of possible adjustments so that parts are painted within a specified tolerance. Body and bumper parts are measured during an inspection process. Measurement and colorimetric data is stored in association with an identifier for the body part or bumper. Measurements relate to equipment and paint mix variables as well as environmental variables that influence the paint results. A software application facilitates analysis of the data and troubleshooting possible causes for color discrepancies. As the color trends away from a specified standard, paint process, including environmental, changes are made, prior to the painting of parts in the bumper or body so that color mismatches are prevented.

  • Publication number: 20120232416
Abstract: The present specification discloses systems and methods of patient monitoring in which multiple sensors are used to detect physiological parameters and the data from those sensors are correlated to determine if an alarm should, or should not, be issued, thereby resulting in more precise alarms and fewer false alarms. Electrocardiogram readings can be combined with invasive blood pressure, non-invasive blood pressure, and/or pulse oximetry measurements to provide a more accurate picture of pulse activity and patient respiration. In addition, the monitoring system can also use an accelerometer or heart valve auscultation to further improve accuracy.

  • Patent number: 8217399
Abstract: Embodiments described herein include LEDs that promote photon tunneling. One embodiment of an LED device can have a quantum well layer adapted to generate light having a wavelength, a p-doped alloy layer on a first side of the quantum well layer and an n-doped alloy layer on the other side of the quantum well layer. The device can also include an electrode electrically connected to the p-doped alloy layer and an electrode electrically connected to the n-doped alloy layer. According to one embodiment the thickness of the n-doped alloy layer is less than the wavelength of light generated by the quantum well layer to allow light generated by the quantum well layer to tunnel to the medium (e.g., air). In another embodiment, the entire layer structure can have a thickness that is less than the wavelength.

  • Patent number: 7909516
Abstract: A mounting system is disclosed for mounting a bearing assembly or other mechanical element to a shaft. The mounting system uses a tapered sleeve mechanism to secure the bearing assembly on the shaft. Specifically, a plurality of screws point load the tapered sleeve and drive it from a pre-assembled position to an initial position. Once the initial position has been reached a plurality of fasteners then drive the sleeve from the initial position to a final position. The difference between the initial position and final position determined by the width of a removable spacer used in the mounting system. The system also incorporates a jack screw mechanism used to dismount the bearing assembly from the shaft.

  • Patent number: 7785345
Abstract: A filter for filtering micro-emboli from a patient's blood during an angioplasty procedure is disclosed which comprises a plurality of curved wires connected to a rod between a first connector fixed with respect to the rod and a second connector slidingly mounted on the rod. Two layers of filter material are connected to opposite sides of the wires, and each layer includes perforations which are offset from the perforations in the other layer. When the rod and the wires are disposed within a catheter, the inner wall of the catheter compresses the wires toward the rod and when the rod is extended from the catheter, the wires resume their curved shape and pull the sliding connector along the rod toward the fixed connector.

  • Patent number: 7777666
Abstract: Systems and methods for mapping a surface of a celestial body containing objects and terrain are provided. One system includes a Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR) module configured to capture a high-resolution image of the terrain of at least a portion of the surface and a map module configured to store map data representing the portion of the surface. The system also includes a fusion module configured to combine the high-resolution image and the map data to generate a high-resolution map of the portion of the surface. A method includes orbiting the celestial body, capturing, via the SAR module, a high-resolution image during each orbit, and fusing the captured high-resolution image with a low-resolution map of the surface to generate a high-resolution map of the surface. A computer-readable medium for storing instructions that cause a processor to perform the above method is also provided.
