Patent number: 11820531Abstract: Features for in-flight recovery of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). A towline may be deployed by a host aircraft in-flight to recover an in-flight target UAV. The towline or portion thereof may be oriented nearly vertical. The towline may have a fitting thereon. A capture mechanism on the target UAV may have one or more deployable flaps that engage with the near vertical towline and fitting. The flaps may stow to secure the target aircraft to the towline and fitting. The host aircraft may then retract the towline to pull in the target UAV to the host aircraft using a hoist system having a winch. A latching system located in a pylon of the host aircraft, which may be under a wing, may have a towline connector that engages with and secures the target UAV. The host aircraft may have multiple hoist systems for deployment and/or recovery of multiple target UAV's.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2021Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Michael Joseph Allwein, James William Groves, Kevin David Koller, Ryan Bylard, Roy Hultenius

Patent number: 11715327Abstract: An electronic device includes a first display on a major surface, a second display positioned on another major surface, and optionally at least one imager collocated with the second display. One or more processors identify a predefined event occurring and select whether to present content on the first display or the second display. The one or more processors can cause an imager to capture at least one image. When image matches a first predefined criterion, the one or more processors cause a presentation of content to occur on the first display. When the image matches a second predefined criterion, the one or more processors cause the presentation of the content to occur on the second display. The one or more processors can also compare sizes of the first touch sensitive display portion and the second touch sensitive display portion to select between the first display and the second display.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2020Date of Patent: August 1, 2023Assignee: Motorola Mobility LLCInventors: Rachid Alameh, Eric Krenz, William Groves, John Gorsica

Publication number: 20220082254Abstract: A method includes processing data associated with operation of equipment in an industrial process to repeatedly (i) identify one or more models that mathematically represent the operation of the equipment using training data and (ii) generate first indicators potentially identifying at least one specified condition of the equipment using evaluation data and the one or more models. The method also includes classifying the first indicators into multiple classes. The multiple classes include true positive indicators and false positive indicators. The true positive indicators identify that the equipment is suffering from the at least one specified condition. The false positive indicators identify that the equipment is not suffering from the at least one specified condition. The method further includes generating a notification indicating that the equipment is suffering from the at least one specified condition in response to one or more first indicators being classified into the class of true positive indicators.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2021Publication date: March 17, 2022Inventors: Constantine A. Vitt, Anna Olecka, Randy M. Miller, Francois Leclerc, Wendy Foslien, Hao He, William Groves

Patent number: 10746405Abstract: A method includes obtaining data associated with operation of equipment in an industrial process and identifying training data and evaluation data in the obtained data. The method also includes, during each of multiple training periods, identifying one or more models and one or more first statistical values using at least some of the training data and determining a threshold value using the one or more first statistical values. The one or more models represent the operation of the equipment. The method further includes, during each of multiple evaluation periods, determining one or more second statistical values using at least some of the evaluation data and the one or more models, comparing the one or more second statistical values to the threshold value determined in a preceding one of the training periods, and determining whether the equipment is suffering from at least one specified condition based on the comparison.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2017Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Constantine A. Publication number: 20190305431Abstract: The present application provides an antenna system, which includes a conductive ground structure, and one or more arms. Each arm has two ends and a conductive path between the two ends. A first one of the two ends of the arm is coupled to the conductive ground structure, where from the first end and along the conductive path, the arm extends along a side edge of the conductive ground structure forming a slot, and continues beyond an end of the conductive ground structure a distance away from the conductive ground structure. The antenna system further includes one or more bridge circuits on a circuit substrate. Each bridge circuit selectively electrically couples one of the one or more arms to the conductive ground structure across the corresponding slot, formed there between, at a respective point along the corresponding conductive path of the one of the one or more arms.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 3, 2018Publication date: October 3, 2019Inventors: Md Rashidul Islam, Mohammed Abdul-Gaffoor, William Groves, Ngee Lee
