  • Patent number: 5702931
Abstract: Methods and reagents for oligonucleotide-directed mutagenesis of a target nucleic acid are provided. In these methods a mutagenic oligonucleotide introduces a desired mutation at one site and, at a second site, introduces or eliminates a restriction site, allowing one to screen for the desired mutation by restriction analysis. Also provided are vectors and kits for performing such mutagenesis methods.

  • Patent number: 5051165
Abstract: The specification discloses a process for substantially reducing the radioactivity of heavy mineral concentrates or mineral mixtures. The process comprises the removal of radioactive minerals present in the heavy mineral concentrate or mixture by a selective flotation procedure. The process yields a single flotation fraction containing the radioactive minerals.

  • Patent number: 4874705
Abstract: A genomic DNA molecule having the nucleic acid sequence set forth in FIG. 1 and encoding an antigenic protein derived from Eimeria tenella has been isolated. The protein has a molecular weight of about 25,000 daltons and is composed of two polypeptides joined by a disulfide bond. One of the polypeptides is characterized by a molecular weight of about 17,000 daltons and by a blocked N-terminal amino acid and having the amino acid sequence set forth in FIG. 1. The other polypeptide is characterized by a molecular weight of about 8,000 daltons and has the amino acid sequence set forth in FIG. 1.A cDNA molecule encoding the 25,000 dalton polypeptide with a continuous amino acid sequence has been inserted into expression vectors capable of expressing the 25,000 dalton polypeptide directly or as a fused polypeptide. The polypeptides produced are used in vaccines to immunize chickens against infection by Eimeria tenella.

  • Patent number: 4810682
Abstract: A process for production of useful materials including a product of similar composition to nepheline involves contacting a slurry of red mud with sulphur dioxide to dissolve components of the red mud that are soluble in sulphurous acid, removing residual undissolved solids by filtration, and recovering a filtrate containing soda, alumina and silica values, removing free water from the filtrate to produce a crystallized residue, and calcining the crystallized residue.

  • Patent number: 4713203
Abstract: A superior proppant having very high permeability at formation pressures up to 20,000 psi, very high compressive strength, low specific gravity, and good acid resistance, is produced by a process comprising: (a) separating a fine fraction from a naturally occurring bauxite containing same; (b) pelletizing the separated fine fraction in the presence of water; (c) treating the pellets produced in step (b) to remove water therefrom; and (d) sintering the product of step (c) to produce a low density material suitable for use as a proppant.

  • Patent number: 3950853
Abstract: An accessory for a track type drafting machine mounted for motion over the surface of a drawing board. The drafting machine accessory includes a set of endless graduated tapes running between rollers mounted at the ends of horizontal and vertical tracks. A set of indicators move along the tapes. One of the indicators is mounted on the drafting machine head carriage and moves along the length of the vertical track, so as to move along the vertical tape. The other indicator is mounted on the vertical track carriage and is moveable along the horizontal tape. A set of right-angled, common origin scales is fitted to the drafting machine head. The graduated tapes are each provided with a zero point from which positive numbers progress in one direction and negative numbers progress in the other. Means are provided for rotating each tape about its respective rollers to adjust the position thereof. Finally, means are provided to lock the tapes in their adjusted positions.
