  • Patent number: 5258697
Abstract: An electric motor, of the type that includes a rotor with permanent magnets and a stator with electromagnets, which operates at high efficiency to produce a high ratio of mechanical power output to electrical power input. During rotor rotation in a first direction (74, FIG. 5), a first magnet (44A') moves away from a position of alignment with the core of a "last" electromagnet (46A), while a second permanent magnet (44B') moves toward a position of alignment with the core of a "next" electromagnet (46C) which it is approaching. The last electromagnet (46A) is energized in a direction to negate attraction of its core (50) for the first permanent magnet (44A'). The next electromagnet (46C) is not substantially energized, so the attraction of the second magnet for the next electromagnet (46C) is due primarily to attraction of their cores in the absence of energization of the next electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 5245950
Abstract: A plural nipple poultry watering system assembly combines a structural support, a water tube, plural nipples and catch cups. The watering system is assembled in multiple modules arranged serially in longitudinal alignment to provide watering systems of various lengths. It yields high water flow for maximum growth rate. In addition, the plural nipple poultry watering system can be suspended from a triangular truss system.

  • Patent number: 5222459
Abstract: An elongated plural nest section for a poultry nesting system providing nests arranged as a plurality of like modular sections. Each section is an elongated enclosure providing the nests with front access openings. A lifting at a rear edge portion of the nest bottoms that collectively raises all the nest bottoms about a front axis from a lowered laying position to an elevated upwardly tilting expulsion position to eject poultry from the nests. A nest access controlling wire gate/trip for the access opening of each nest to be swung downwardly from a first open position to a blocking second during passage of a hen into the nest. A time controlled motor and cable arrangement swings the nest bottoms concurrently to an upwardly titled expelling position and returns the gate/trip assembled to the said first positions.

  • Patent number: 4538922
Abstract: A portable mixing device particularly for use with power drills or the like, having a helicoidal flight of coil units of equal dimensions leading up from a bottom, that has a radial edge to scrape material off the bottom of a can and a rounded corner that prevents the edge from cutting into a can, the several coils of helixes terminating at the top in another radial edge with a rounded corner to prevent cutting into the side of the can, with a circular baffle plate spaced a predetermined distance above the top edge of the helical flight to deflect the material being stirred upwardly by the device, outwardly to that it can then circulate back downwardly to effect the mixing circulation.

  • Patent number: 4499911
Abstract: Significant amounts of heat energy, otherwise wasted in the curing and drying systems previously known, are recovered and recycled in the multi-chamber system of the present invention to thereby significantly increase efficiency and reduce fuel requirements. Tobacco or other moisture containing material is cured and dried in batches in a plurality of individual chambers, with each chamber having suitable controls for individually controlling the temperature and humidity conditions of the curing air which is circulated through the chamber. Means and methods are disclosed for recovering and recycling the heat content of the heated exhaust air from the respective chambers, for using solar energy for further heating the air, and for recovering and recycling the heat energy of the batch of material as it is cooled down at the end of the curing and drying cycle.
