  • Publication number: 20180072260
Abstract: A test apparatus includes a linear-motion generator, an airbag, a plate, an anthropomorphic test device, a crushable member, and a guide bar. The linear-motion generator is deployable in a deployment direction. The airbag is spaced from the linear-motion generator and inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The plate and the anthropomorphic test device are movable together by the linear-motion generator. The crushable member is fixed relative to the airbag in the uninflated position and disposed in the deployment direction from the plate. The guide bar has an end fixed relative to the airbag in the uninflated position and is positioned to intersect the airbag in the inflated position. The test apparatus has a beltline bar that is elongated along an axis transverse to the deployment direction, adjacent the airbag in the uninflated position, and spaced farther from the linear-motion generator than the airbag in the inflated position.

  • Publication number: 20180069416
Abstract: A wind and solar powered Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) rental outlet specifically configured to offer electric bicycles, SEGWAYS, Personal mobility scooters and other such personal electric modes of transportation for rental in any remote, off-grid location served by the tourist industry, such as islands and beach resorts, and in other locations that typically do not have access to the electrical infrastructure to offer such a rental service. This LEV rental outlet is equipped with enough battery storage so as to allow for the multiple use of each personal electric vehicle on an hourly basis over the course of a day. The LEV rental outlet is configured entirely within an ISO Standard Shipping Container so as to be transportable on commercial container ship. This allows the LEV rental outlet it to be deployed and operated in any location in the world without the need of supporting infrastructure.

  • Patent number: 9912113
Abstract: A system for implementing an electrical rotary joint in a large-diameter system using relatively small-diameter capsule slip rings is described herein. The system includes a system rotor that rotates about a system axis of rotation, and a system stator that is stationary with respect to the system rotor. The system also includes at least one conductive contact channel disposed on one of the system rotor and the system stator. The system further includes at least one capsule slip ring (CSR) coupled to the other of the system rotor and the system stator. The at least one CSR has a conductive annular element coupled thereto, the conductive annular element in mechanical contact with the at least one conductive contact channel such that the at least one CSR forms an electrical rotary joint between the system rotor and the system stator.

  • Publication number: 20170349216
Abstract: A structural member for a vehicle includes an outer panel defining a U-shaped channel. The outer panel is formed from a first material. The structural member further includes a reinforcement panel defining a U-shaped channel. The reinforcement panel is formed from a second material different than the first material and is formed to attach to the outer panel. The structural member also includes an inner panel defining a U-shaped channel. The inner panel is formed from a third material different than the first and second materials and is formed to attach to the reinforcement panel such that the outer panel, reinforcement panel, and the inner panel are oriented along an axis and span an entire length of each of the U-shaped channels.

  • Publication number: 20170326815
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to methods for additive manufacturing (AM) that utilize rail support structures in the process of building objects, as well as novel rail support structures to be used within these AM processes. The rail support structures include a plurality of substantially parallel vertical walls, each wall extending substantially parallel to a direction from the first side to the second side. Adjacent walls of the plurality of substantially parallel vertical walls are separated by a portion of unfused powder. An object is formed above the plurality of substantially parallel vertical walls.

  • Publication number: 20170299948
Abstract: A camera mount for supporting a camera unit has a base portion having a first surface, which includes an elongate concave surface feature extending across at least part of the first surface and defining a first axis. Engagement means including a first plurality of protrusions which extend out of, are spaced apart across part of, the first surface, each of the protrusions extending substantially perpendicularly to the axis, and substantially parallel to at least one other of the protrusions. Each of the protrusions defines an aperture therethrough, the apertures being substantially aligned along a second axis, the second axis being substantially parallel to the first axis.
