  • Publication number: 20120059671
Abstract: A portable touch-sensitive system for capturing Electronic Medical Data (EMD) to create Emergency Medicine Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) that includes Graphical User Interface (GUI) menus adapted specifically for collecting and reporting medical assessments in the Emergency Room (ER) environment. For navigation, the GUI menus use text objects that can be selected, opened and moved among multiple states using simple operator pen gestures. The resulting EMR content is fully accessible without scrolling, opening or closing windows, or changing menus, making it possible to capture, in real time as the patient is talking, a EMR that fully conforms to the predetermined EMD requirements of an Emergency Medicine EMR specification.

  • Patent number: 8087612
Abstract: A support structure for an aircraft seat includes load bearing spaced side members, each having elements for securing a seat for continuous movement between first and second positions, and a ground engaging portion. The structure further includes a stiffening web extending between the side members. The side members and the stiffening web substantially define a hollow box section of at least four sides to stiffen the side members, at least in the regions beneath the element securing the seat. The support structure allows other material than the conventional steel or aluminum constructions to be used for the support frame. For example, substantially all off the structural strength of the support may be provided by fiber reinforced composite materials.

  • Patent number: 8042688
Abstract: The present invention provides a combination drape and carrying bag unit including a singular sheet or plurality of joined sheet of pliable materials, both permeable and impermeable, of size to define a mat to accommodate a working medical procedural area thereon, upon which may be placed in single or combination, medical equipment and patient. The sheet has a drawstring casing extending about its periphery. The casing has openings therein on opposite sides of the mat and a drawstring is received in the drawstring casing and is of size to extend continuously about the periphery of the sheet when it defines a mat. The drawstring is slidably received in the drawstring casing so that when portions of the drawstring are pulled out of the drawstring casing through the openings, the periphery of the sheet forms gathers adjacent the casing to permit the periphery to reduce in size whereby the unit forms a carrying bag.

  • Publication number: 20110041464
Abstract: A method for clearing stalled containers in a taping or other container sealer includes the steps of (i) conveying a container to a sealing station, (ii) sealing the container with a sealer at the sealing station as the container travels through the sealing station, (iii) detecting a stalled container in the sealing station, and (iv) raising the sealer upon detection of a stalled container in the sealing station to relieve the stalled condition so that the container travels through the sealing station and is sealed by the sealer. Raising the sealer can clear the stalled container, thereby minimizing or eliminating events that require an operator's attention.

  • Publication number: 20100298061
Abstract: An apparatus which uses a club having a head portion and a shaft. Integrated with the head portion is a shaped recess with a golf ball holder. The golf ball holder is capable of gripping and holding a golf ball with a predetermined force requirement for release, which requires the use to execute a proper golf swing to release the ball. The predetermined force requirement may be adjustable. The user also may vary the angle of the club face on various planes relative to the shaft, thereby changing the swing required to release the ball.

  • Publication number: 20100255924
Abstract: An apparatus used to improve a golfer's swing, which uses a golf club having a club head and a shaft, where the club head is attached to the bottom portion of the shaft. Fastened to the club head is a cradle having a curved upper portion and a curved lower portion that form a semi-circular recess. The semi-circular recess is capable of maintaining a golf ball. The invention further contemplates a method for improving a golfer's swing consisting of the steps of (a) placing a cradle onto the club head of a golf club; (b) fastening the cradle to the club head through a fastening means; (c) placing a golf ball within the semi-circular recess of the cradle; (d) taking a regular golf stance; (e) performing a standard swing; and (f) driving the golf ball out of the cradle.

  • Publication number: 20080006647
Abstract: The system includes a bin hopper which temporarily stores a plurality of small elements, such as medications. The elements are moved out of the bin and singulated into a one-by-one sequence by a series of singulating conveyors. The resulting sequence of elements is moved onto a main system conveyor where the element is identified and then moved to a loading mechanism which arranges the item so it is ready to be gripped and stored. The system includes a mass storage apparatus comprising a series of four upstanding cylindrical drums, each having a plurality of individually accessible and addressable cell storage locations for the elements. A gripping apparatus removes the elements from the loading mechanism and transfers them to a selected location in a cylindrical drum. When an article is to be dispensed, the drum is rotated so that an ejection arm comes adjacent the desired location in the drum.
