  • Patent number: 6509434
Abstract: Mixtures of isomeric alkylthiated mononuclear aromatic amines comprising in the range of about 30 to about 70 mole percent of (i) at least one 3,5-di(alkyl-thio)-2,6-diamino-1-alkylbenzene and in the range of about 30 to about 70 mole percent of at least one 3,5-di(alkylthio)-2,4-diamino-1-alkylbenzene, such mixture containing at least about 90 mole percent of (i) and (ii), and optionally containing up to 10 mole percent of one or more isomers of (i) and/or (ii). An alkyl group may be present as a substituent in lieu of a hydrogen atom in the remaining ring position. These mixtures are useful as curatives or extenders in processes for making polyurethanes, polyurethane-ureas, and polyureas.

  • Publication number: 20020138926
Abstract: A head for an electric toothbrush includes a support member having a plurality of holes extending completely therethrough. A plurality of tufts of bristles each extends through one of the holes. A first brushing end of each tuft projects from a first side of the support member. Each tuft is prevented from being withdrawn from its hole when a tensile force is applied to the first end of each tuft along a long axis of the tuft. A resilient cushion is positioned adjacent a second side of the support member such that a second end of each tuft can contact the cushion. When a compressive force is applied to the first end of each tuft along the long axis of each tuft, each tuft can move in its hole in a first direction into the cushion. When the compressive force is removed the cushion causes each tuft to move in its hole in a second direction substantially opposite the first direction.

  • Patent number: 5842357
Abstract: A process for concentrating and recovering methane and carbon dioxide from landfill gas includes absorption of commonly occurring pollutants using a reduced amount of carbon dioxide absorbent which itself may be an in situ derived and recoverable constituent. Separated methane may be concentrated into a high heating value fuel, and a highly pure food-grade carbon dioxide product may also be recovered. Process streams may be used to provide fuel for compression and refrigeration and/or to regenerate carbon dioxide absorbent.

  • Patent number: 5840984
Abstract: Odor formation during storage of (hydrocarbylthio)aromatic amines due to formation and release of odoriferous sulfur-containing species such as dihydrocarbyldisulfides, is suppressed. To accomplish this, a small amount of N,N-dihydrocarbylhydroxylamine odor-inhibitor (e.g., N,N-diethylhydroxylamine) is blended with the (hydrocarbylthio)aromatic amine. This enables products such as a mixture of 3,5-di(methylthio)-2,4-diaminotoluene and 3,5-di(methylthio)-2,6-diaminotoluene) to be stored for long periods of time with significantly reduced formation and release of odoriferous sulfur-containing species.

  • Patent number: 5776033
Abstract: A removable chin-up bar arrangement includes spaced body members situated at opposite ends of a chin-up bar extending therebetween, the bar being rotatable with respect to the body members. Opposed pincher members are swingably attached to each of the body members and are adapted to extend about and hang the body members and the chin-up bar from and overhead support, such as the framing extending about an interior doorway. A gear tooth lock mechanism extending between the ends of the chin-up bar and each of the pincher members, the lock mechanism moving the pincher members in unison toward each other and causing the chin-up bar to rotate in a first direction and upon rotation of the bar in the opposite direction causes the pincher members to open from each other, permitting removal of the chin-up bar arrangement from the doorway.

  • Patent number: 5706623
Abstract: A carpet edge strip secures a carpet edge to the floor and is formed of an aluminum extrusion in the form of a substantially flat strip attached to the floor and with an upstanding rib protruding therefrom. A cap molding fits over the carpet edge strip and has a nose portion, a central slot or groove and a tail portion with the slot or groove tightly receiving the strip upstanding rib. The nose portion fits down against the strip on one side and the tail portion extends over the carpet edge on the other side, squeezing the carpet edge between the carpet edge strip and the cap to prevent the edge from coming loose and to provide a pleasing, finished appearance.
