  • Publication number: 20060118720
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving detection of radiation emitted from object that includes a radiation detection sensor with a substrate and an array of columns protruding from a top surface of the substrate. A radiation sensitive layer, such as TLC, and a thermal conversion material, such as an absorber, are disposed upon a top surface of the columns within the array thereby producing an array of radiation detectors. The columns provide thermal isolation between the radiation detectors and the substrate, and spatial separation of columns within the array provide radiant and thermal isolation between the radiation detectors upon the tops of individual columns. Producing an image of the array of radiation detectors allows detection of the radiation emitted from an object.

  • Publication number: 20060101425
Abstract: A compiler (or interpreter) detects source language instructions performing arithmetic operations using a fixed point format (preferably packed decimal). Where the operation can be performed without loss of precision or violation of other constraints of the source language, the compiler automatically converts the operands to a floating point format (preferably Decimal Floating Point (DFP)) having hardware support, and re-converts results to the original fixed point format. Preferably, the compiler may combine multiple operations and instructions in an expression tree, analyze the tree, and selectively convert where possible. The compiler preferably performs a heuristic cost judgment in determining whether to use a particular conversion.

  • Publication number: 20060048114
Abstract: A dynamic compiler analyzes the frequency of execution of selective code paths within a program procedure, and selectively compiles code paths to different memory locations based on the observed frequency of execution. Preferably, code is dynamically compiled in two stages. In a first compilation stage, the compiler instruments selective code paths to count the number of times each path is taken. A second stage compilation is thereafter triggered when the procedure has been called some threshold number of times. In the second stage, the compiler selectively re-compiles the more frequently executed code paths to a primary location, and re-compiles the remaining code paths to an alternate location. Placing infrequently executed code in an alternate location reduces the size of the primary code area, improving execution efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20050264328
Abstract: Reset circuitry for an integrated circuit is presented. An internal oscillator produces an oscillating signal upon power-up of the integrated circuit. The internal oscillator is not dependent on signals generated outside the integrated circuit. An electro-static discharge blocker circuit receives an external reset signal generated outside the integrated circuit. The electrostatic discharge blocker circuit utilizes the oscillating signal to perform electro-static discharge blocking for the external reset signal to produce an internal reset signal.

  • Publication number: 20050161573
Abstract: A mirror mount assembly includes multiple reflective surfaces disposed within a mirror housing for use on a vehicle. The reflective surfaces of each reflective surface are designed and configured for mounting at a pre-selected site. When so mounted, each reflective surface provides an expanded field-of-view of objects disposed in a specific zone proximate to the mirror mount assembly. When positioned at the extreme front end of the hood of a Type-C school bus, one of the reflective surfaces provides an expanded field-of-view below and alongside the driver and a reflective surface provides an expanded field-of-view below and in front of the school bus. On a Type-D school bus, the mirror mount assembly is disposed above the driver and suspended from the roof of the bus—the housing inkling the two reflective surfaces and a rear-view mirror. The reflective surfaces are designed to provide the driver with the best images in the target zones while minimizing the blindspot behind the mirror mount assembly.
