  • Publication number: 20050127572
Abstract: A method of inspecting wall thickness of blow-molded plastic containers includes providing a blow-molder having a plurality of molds and a plurality of associated spindles. The containers are inspected by impinging infrared light thereon and detecting the portion of the infrared light that passes through the container and converting the same into corresponding electrical signals which are delivered to a microprocessor. The microprocessor compares the electrical signals with stored information regarding desired wall thickness of the container and emits output thickness information. The microprocessor receives signals from sensors associated with the blow-molder relating to the position of the molds, the identity of the molds and the identity of the spindles in order that the wall thickness information that is determined by inspection can be associated with specific molds and spindles. The wall thickness information may be averaged over a period of time or a number of containers.

  • Publication number: 20050050535
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for improved loop unrolling by a compiler. A large class of loops exists for which effective loop unrolling has not previously been performed because they are too large to be completely unrolled, but which do not have a single hot trace that covers an entire loop iteration. The present invention recognizes such loops that have partial hot traces identified using profile data. A set of instructions which constitute a proper superset of the hot trace and a proper subset of the entire loop, and which forms a complete loop iteration is identified. This set of instructions can then be unrolled without unrolling the entire loop.

  • Publication number: 20050013023
Abstract: A remote controlled crossview mirror assembly for use on a vehicle that allows a vehicle operator to adjust an arcuate mirror leftward and rightward to improve the field of vision directly in front of and to the side of the vehicle. To operate the assembly, the operator first activates an electronic controller contained within the cab region. The electronic controller sends an electrical signal to an electronic actuator. The electronic actuator interprets the electronic signal and rotates about a fixed center point in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction along a horizontal plane, thereby adjusting a coupled arcuate mirror to improve the operator's field of vision directly in front of and to the side of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6834332
Abstract: An apparatus and method for swapping out real memory by inhibiting input/output (I/O) operations to a memory region are provided. The apparatus and method provide a mechanism in which a quiesce indicator is provided in a field containing the current outstanding I/O count associated with the memory region whose real memory is to be swapped out. The current I/O field and the quiesce indicator are used as a means for communicating between a shared resource arbitrator and a guest consumer. When the quiesce indicator is set, the guest consumer is informed that it should not send any further I/O operations to that memory region. When the number of pending I/O operations against the memory region is zero, a valid bit in a protection table is set to invalid, and the real memory associated with the memory region may be swapped out.

  • Publication number: 20040215848
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus, system and method for providing a generalized queue pair for use with host channel adapters of a system area network. With the apparatus, system and method, the hypervisor of a host channel adapter maintains a P_Key table for each logical port of the host channel adapter. When a request is received to allocate a queue pair from a requestor application associated with a logical port, a P_Key mode is set in a control register associated with the queue pair based on the type of requestor application that sent the request. Based on this P_Key mode, one or more P_Keys from a P_Key table associated with the logical port from which the request was received are written to one or more P_Key registers allocated to the queue pair. These P_Keys are then used to perform P_Key checks of incoming data packets. In addition, these P_Keys are inserted into headers of outgoing data packets.

  • Publication number: 20040202189
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for providing multiple logical partitions in a system area network are provided Logical partitioning support is provided for host channel adapters which allows multiple operating systems to share the resources of a single physical host channel adapter (HCA). The apparatus, system and method ensures that each operating system is unaware that the HCA hardware resources are being shared with other operating systems and further guarantees that the individual operating systems are prevented from accessing HCA hardware resources which are associated with other operating systems.

  • Patent number: 6789143
Abstract: A distributed computing system having (host and I/O) end nodes, switches, routers, and links interconnecting these components is provided. The end nodes use send and receive queue pairs to transmit and receive messages. The end nodes use completion queues to inform the end user when a message has been completely sent or received and whether an error occurred during the message transmission or reception process. A mechanism implements these queue pairs and completion queues in hardware. A mechanism for controlling the transfer of work requests from the consumer to the CA hardware and work completions from the CA hardware to the consumer using head and tail pointers that reference circular buffers is also provided. The QPs and CQs do not contain Work Queue Entries and Completion Queue Entries respectively, but instead contain references to these entries.

  • Patent number: 6725296
Abstract: An apparatus and method for managing work and completion queues using head and tail circular pointers. With the apparatus and method, queue head and tail pointers are maintained in the channel interface and the host channel adapter. The head and tail pointers in the host channel adapter include a queue pointer table index and a queue page index for identifying a position within the queue. For work queues, the tail pointer in the channel interface is used to identify a next position where a work queue entry may be written. The head pointer in the channel interface is used only to determine whether the work queue is full or not. The head pointer in the host channel adapter is used to identify a next work queue entry for processing by the host channel adapter. The tail pointer in the host channel adapter is used by the host channel adapter to determine if the queue is empty. For completion queues, the head pointer in the channel interface is used to identify a next completion queue entry to be processed.

  • Publication number: 20040052697
Abstract: The catalytic converter comprises a shell having a curled edge. When assembling the catalytic converter, the curled edge is inserted into the mat support material of the mat support material/catalyst substrate subassembly disposed in the shell. Once inserted, the curled edge and mat support material form an airgap that can thermally insulate and mechanically isolate the mat support material.

  • Patent number: 6694346
Abstract: In a virtual machine environment, the invention enables creation of a long running, reusable, virtual machine are disclosed. The environment includes a shared heap where requisite runtime code to bring the virtual machine into a ‘ready’ mode are loaded, linked, verified, initialized and compiled. Subsequent virtual machines are started and jointly use the shared heap. Applications create their objects in ‘private heaps’ that are exclusively reserved for the respective applications. At the end of execution of an application, each private heap is reinitialized. Static initializers are run in a persistent area of each private heap. This persistent area is reset to its initial values in between execution of applications. This obviates the need to terminate the virtual machine.
