  • Patent number: 7233212
Abstract: A circuit topology which can be used to create an array of individually tuned oscillators operating at different frequencies determined by common control inputs and an easily managed variation in design dimensions of several components is provided. An array of oscillators are provided arranged in columns and rows. Each oscillator in a column is unique from the other oscillators in the column based on number of stages in the oscillator and fanout so that each oscillator will operate at a unique frequency. Oscillators of different columns within the array may differ by a common setting of the selects to these oscillators and the physical ordering of the oscillators in the column to further reduce the possibility of injection locking. A base delay cell provides selects to each column of oscillators such that each column may be programmed to operate at a different frequency from its neighbors.

  • Patent number: 7232402
Abstract: The present invention relates to a torsional damper for an electrically-variable transmission. The torsional damper is equipped with a hydraulically actuable lock-out clutch to directly couple the engine to the input shaft of the transmission. The electric motors provided with the electrically-variable transmission can serve to effectively cancel out engine compression pulses when the springs of the torsional damper are locked out. When the engine is off and the torsional damper assembly is in use, an auxiliary pump is provided to pump oil to the torsional damper assembly. The lock-out clutch is hydraulically balanced by the oil supplied by the auxiliary pump. The pump is strategically mounted to the transmission housing in a manner to minimize the distance between the auxiliary pump and the transmission without affecting any vehicle ground clearance requirements.

  • Patent number: 7233365
Abstract: Digital dc restore methods and apparatus to restore the DC component of an analog waveform to a quantized reference value level at a given temporal point on a waveform, prior to an ADC. This may used to establish the relationship between the full scale digital value out of the ADC and the waveform being digitized. For a video signal, the Digital Value of Black, is compared with the value on the back porch of the video signal. The difference is converted to the analog domain by a DAC clocked at the Temporal Point to provide a sample and hold function. An amplifier compares the difference, mapped to one half full scale digital, to an analog common mode voltage for the ADC, removing any error due to the difference between them. Other applications include correlated double sampling of contact image sensors to remove Dark Current Offset.

  • Publication number: 20070136521
Abstract: The present invention provides a device and method for mitigating performance degradation caused by SATA drives attached to a SAS domain. In one of the embodiments of the present invention, a SATA degradation mitigation device (“SDMD”) is installed between a SAS domain and one or more SATA drives. The SDMD effectively reduces congestion on intermediate links by buffering SATA data and transmitting the data at a rate which is higher than the rate at which the SATA data is received from a drive. Conversely, write data from the SAS domain may be buffered at the SDMD at a higher rate and subsequently sent to the SATA drive at a lower rate. This SATA data buffering and subsequent increase in data rate improves the overall efficiency of a SAS domain storage system by reducing data congestion arising out of low-performance SATA drives clogging the intermediate links.

  • Publication number: 20070134948
Abstract: A method and apparatus for electrically connecting two substrates using resilient wire bundles captured in apertures of an interposer by a retention film. The interposer comprises an electrically non-conductive carrier having two surfaces and apertures extending from surface to surface. A resilient wire bundle is disposed in each aperture. An electrically non-conductive retention film is associated with one or both surfaces of the carrier and has an orifice overlying each aperture. The width of each orifice is smaller than that of the underlying aperture to thereby enhance retention of the resilient wire bundle within the aperture. Pin contacts of one or both of the substrates make electrical contact with the resilient wire bundles by extending through the orifices of the retention film and partially through the apertures. In one embodiment, the interposer is a land grid array (LGA) connector that connects an electronic module and a printed circuit board (PCB).

  • Publication number: 20070131016
Abstract: Dies that are attached to a die plate can be transferred to a substrate. An actuator can be used to cause a die to be released from the die plate and to come into contact with the substrate. For example, the die may cover a corresponding hole in the die plate. The actuator can move a pin into the hole in the die plate, thereby pushing the die from the die plate. The actuator may be actuated by an electromagnetic stimulus. For instance, a solenoid having windings around a tubular core may provide the electromagnetic stimulus to the actuator. Current may be provided to the windings of the solenoid to generate the electromagnetic stimulus that actuates the actuator. The actuator may be provided in the tubular core of the solenoid.
