Abstract: Provided are various embodiments of a fertilizer composition. The fertilizer compositions include one or more compounds having a high nitrogen content, which may be measured by a carbon to nitrogen atom ratio. Also provided are methods for increasing nitrogen content in soil, promoting crop production and fertilizing.

Abstract: A cartridge is provided for cleaning a tape drive head. The cartridge includes a flexible member (e.g., a cartridge leader or tape portion) adapted for use with a tape drive and having a cleaning brush fixed thereto. The cleaning brush may be flexible and include a plurality of bristles for contacting and removing debris from the drive head, and in particular, from grooves or slots of the drive head. In another aspect a tape drive is provided, the tape drive including a flexible member (e.g., a drive leader) having a cleaning brush fixed thereto for contacting and cleaning the drive head.

Abstract: A method of displaying an image with a display system is provided. The method comprises generating first and second sub-frames using first and second subsets of image data based on a relationship between a first projection device and a second projection device, wherein the first and the second subsets of image data individually include insufficient information to provide a high quality reproduction of the image; and projecting the first and the second sub-frames onto a display surface using the first and the second projection devices, respectively, such that the first and the second sub-frames at least partially overlap on the display surface to provide the high quality reproduction of the image.

Abstract: A system and method for cache management in a data processing system. The data processing system includes a processor and a memory hierarchy. The memory hierarchy includes at least an upper memory cache, at least a lower memory cache, and a write-back data structure. In response to replacing data from the upper memory cache, the upper memory cache examines the write-back data structure to determine whether or not the data is present in the lower memory cache. If the data is present in the lower memory cache, the data is replaced in the upper memory cache without casting out the data to the lower memory cache.

Abstract: The present invention provides a learning environment that presents information in an organized fashion with defined objectives using an extension of current 3D online technology. By combining 3D virtual space technology with additional asynchronous and synchronous communications features, a content rich learning environment can be created that allows students more realistic interactions than those provided by currently deployed systems. In addition, the system allows for the overlay and integration of 2D, text-based, and audio-based learning tools both within and outside the 3D environment and provides an interface with convergence technology such as cell phones, pagers, hand held computers, etc as well as collaborative tools such as presentation of overheads, computer software slide presentations such as MICROSOFT POWERPOINT, whiteboard, virtual network computing (VNC), and for class lectures, whiteboard, virtual network computing (VNC), and other collaborative tools layered into the 3D environment.

Abstract: Efficient sequence specific gene silencing is possible through the use of siRNA technology. By selecting particular siRNAs by rational design, one can maximize the generation of an effective gene silencing reagent, as well as methods for silencing genes. Methods, compositions, and kits generated through rational design of siRNAs are disclosed.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for estimating consumer demand at remotely located equipment and establishing dispatch schedules for servicing the remotely located equipment. Data from the remotely located equipment may be classified into a hierarchy or various levels of reliability for use in calculating a consumer demand estimate for each product and/or each service available at the remotely located equipment. A full set of sales data for each product or service over multiple time intervals with no equipment problems, no out of stock conditions and no other operating problems may be classified as the highest level of reliability and predictability possible for calculating a consumer demand estimate. The lowest level of data used to calculate a consumer demand estimate may be a historical average of daily sales for all products or services sold over a long period of time at the remotely located equipment.

Abstract: A composite service enabling data processing system utilizing lightweight messaging can include channel servlets enabled to establish multiple, different channels of access to a common session for a composite service. The system also can include a location registry including a table of entries associating the different channels of access with the common session for the composite service. The system yet further can include a model servlet configured for coupling to a model for the common session, for modifying state data in the model for the common session, and to synchronize views for each of the different channels of access to the common session responsive to changes detected in the model.

Abstract: Isolation regions for semiconductor substrates include dielectric-filled trenches and field oxide regions. Protective caps of dielectric materials dissimilar from the dielectric materials in the main portions of the trenches and field oxide regions may be used to protect the structures from erosion during later process steps. The top surfaces of the isolation structures are coplanar with the surface of the substrate. Field doping regions may be formed beneath the field oxide regions. To meet the demands of different devices, the isolation structures may have varying widths and depths.

Abstract: Provided are techniques for locating data in a storage area. Upon receiving a request for data, a search for the data is simultaneously initiated on at least two storage devices, the search being performed on a first storage device using a top down search and on a second storage device using a bottom up search. In response to receiving an indication from at least one of the storage devices that the data was located, the search is terminated on each of the other storage devices.

Abstract: A communications network that controls gasoline pumps having multimedia players. The communication network comprises one or more communication networks including satellite, terrestrial, and wireless. A data center transmits media to the gasoline pumps and receives feedback from the gasoline pumps. The operation of the system includes broadcasting media, playing media, monitoring status, and reporting activity and information about the multimedia players. The communication system facilitates these operations and provides data security in the gas station environment.

Abstract: Methods and systems of initiating a backup process of data stored on a computer are described. One method calls for the data to be backed up to be identified. A backup event trigger is defined, and the computer is monitored for the occurrence of the backup event trigger. If the trigger occurs, a balancing heuristic is applied, to determine whether to initiate the backup process.

Abstract: A system for controlling one or more components of a climate control system is provided that includes one or more controllers in connection with low voltage power lines for powering the one or more controllers. The controllers are further capable of transmitting one or more communication signals via the low voltage waveform. The system includes a thermostat controller, at least one system controller for a heating or cooling system, and a controller for a circulating air blower. The thermostat controller, system controller and circulating air blower controller are connected to each other only through each controller's individual connection to the hot and common low voltage power transmission lines. Each controller is capable of transmitting one or more signals that are superimposed onto the low-frequency low-voltage waveform and include information identifying a destination controller that the signals are intended for.

Abstract: A semiconductor component includes a base die and a secondary die stacked on and bonded to the base die. The base die includes conductive vias which form an internal signal transmission system for the component, and allow the circuit side of the secondary die to be bonded to the back side of the base die. The component also includes an array of terminal contacts on the circuit side of the base die in electrical communication with the conductive vias. The component can also include an encapsulant on the back side of the base die, which substantially encapsulates the secondary die, and a polymer layer on the circuit side of the base die which functions as a protective layer, a rigidifying member and a stencil for forming the terminal contacts. A method for fabricating the component includes the step of bonding singulated secondary dice to base dice on a base wafer, or bonding a secondary wafer to the base wafer, or bonding singulated secondary dice to singulated base dice.
