  • Patent number: 6911327
Abstract: A method for determining an unknown starting quantity of a target nucleic acid sequence in a test sample comprises amplifying the unknown starting quantity of the target nucleic acid sequence in the test sample and known starting quantities of a calibration nucleic acid sequence in respective calibration samples; and determining a respective threshold value for each of the nucleic acid sequences using a derivative of a growth curve derived for the sequence. The starting quantity of the target nucleic acid sequence in the test sample is determined using the threshold value determined for the target sequence and a calibration curve derived from the threshold values determined for the known starting quantities of the calibration nucleic acid sequences.

  • Patent number: 6912382
Abstract: A system and method for enhanced telephone customer usage details is presented. A user is able to configure one or more telephone accounts to limit the amount of telephone usage. The user sets usage limits corresponding to one of the telephone accounts and processing verifies that the usage limits are not exceeded during each telephone call. When processing determines that a particular telephone call is approaching a usage limit, processing sends an audible message to the user. When processing determines that a particular telephone call has reached a usage limit, processing terminates the telephone call. The user may display telephone usage information on his telephone display or the user may configure processing to provide an audio message corresponding to his account information.

  • Patent number: 6910606
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve housing defining a metering chamber and an elongated stem. The stem is axially movable with respect to the valve housing for dispensing liquid and is rotatable for adjusting the length of the stroke of a piston to thereby select the volume of liquid dispensed with each actuation of the stem. A sliding float member is fitted around the stem within the chamber and is axially slidable with respect to the stem but is locked for rotation with the stem. The lower surface of the sliding float is locked for axial movement with the piston but is independently rotatable with respect to the piston. A pair of spaced poles extends parallel to the axis of the float and engages vaginations in a surface of the housing to thereby limit the length of the stroke of the piston. The poles of the float and the complementary pairs of vaginations in the housing are angularly spaced a distance of less than 180 degrees.
