  • Patent number: 7004064
Abstract: An apparatus for cooking bacon includes a base having a bottom surface and a plurality of edge portions integral therewith and extending upwardly therefrom. A plurality of elongate prongs have lower end portions integral with the rack and extend upwardly therefrom, respectively. A plurality of lips integral with the plurality of prongs and extending upwardly from the lower end portions thereof, respectively, receive bacon strips therealong. The plurality of prongs are generally equally spaced apart for allowing a plurality of bacon strips, each having opposed side edge portions, to be corrugated therebetween. Advantageously, such bacon strips remain detached from each other and are maintained on substantially one respective side edge portion during a cooking process to thereby allow grease to drip downwardly therefrom and towards the base.

  • Publication number: 20060034154
Abstract: A rotary pulser for transmitting information to the surface from down hole in a well by generating pressure pulses encoded to contain information. The pressure pulses travel to the surface where they are decoded so as to decipher the information. The pulser includes housing containing a stator forming passages through which drilling fluid flows on its way to the drill bit, a rotor, and a replaceable wear sleeve enclosing the rotor. The rotor has blades that are capable of imparting a varying obstruction to the flow of drilling fluid through the stator passages depending on the circumferential orientation of the rotor, so that rotation of the rotor by a motor generates the encoded pressure pulses.

  • Publication number: 20050009601
Abstract: A method for customizing play of a gaming device to a particular player level or group, where the gaming device is connected by a network to a host computer, includes creating a player account accessible by the host computer. The player account is associated with a player and has stored therein one of a plurality of player levels. The player is allowed to play on the gaming device and the gaming device is operated responsive to the player level. That is, the step of operating the gaming device includes adjusting a bonus triggering threshold and/or quantitative amount awarded based on the player level. In this way, high rated players such as those that gamble frequently and in high amounts, have gaming and bonusing events and award amounts tailored to their style of play and preferences to encourage continued play.

  • Patent number: 6826335
Abstract: An optical fibre arrangement has at least two optical fibre sections, each optical fibre section defining an outside longitudinally extending surface. The outside longitudinally extending surfaces are in optical contact with each other. The invention further provides for an amplifying optical device have an optical fibre arrangement as just described, and a pump source. The amplifying optical device is configured such that the pump source illuminates the amplifying optical fibre. A amplifying arrangement is also disclosed. The amplifying arrangement includes a plurality of amplifying optical devices as just described, and each amplifier also has at least one input fibre and a first multiplexer connected to the input fibre. Each amplifier is configured such that at least one of the amplifying optical fibres is connected to the first multiplexer. The amplifying arrangement also has a second multiplexer connected to each of the first multiplexers.

  • Patent number: 6738902
Abstract: Authorized intercepts of communications in a communications system such as a satellite communications system (10) are controlled. Each law enforcement agency (LEA) can only intercept communications to subscriber units (SUs) within its jurisdiction. In addition, the identity of each authorized intercept target is known only to the requesting LEA. In one embodiment, a trusted entity, such as a network operations facility (NOF 22, FIG. 3), creates a list of ID's corresponding to all SUs within each LEA's jurisdiction. Each SU ID is provided both unencrypted and encrypted for one or more network nodes (NN 1-R, FIG. 3). A network intercept facility (IF 201, FIG. 3) selects a target SU ID, generates an intercept order encrypted for one or more NNs, and sends it to one or more NNs for execution.

  • Patent number: 6698632
Abstract: A nail coil and tool holding assembly, having a belt and a number of nail coil pouches each having a front and a rear. The rear of each pouch is attached to the belt by a single rivet. Pivotal attachment onto the belt by the rivet allows the pouches to be rotated to maximize ease of access to the nails. A hammer holder, a utility knife holder pouch, and a pencil holder pouch may be attached to the belt by means of fastening material attached to the rear surface of the belt. Each nail coil pouch has an open top lip and a vertical slot on the front surface, to facilitate easy access to the nails. The nail coils may be positioned in the nail coil pouch so that the points of the nails are oriented towards the pouch rear to minimize the risk of injury to the user.

  • Patent number: 6577739
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for audio compression and frequency shifting retain the spectral shape of an audio input signal while compressing and shifting its frequency. The fast Fourier transform of the input signal is generated, to allow processing in the frequency domain. The input audio signal is divided into small time segments, and each is subjected to frequency analysis. Frequency processing includes compression and optional frequency shifting. The inverse fast Fourier transform function is performed on the compressed and frequency shifted spectrum, to compose an output audio signal, equal in duration to the original signal. The output signal is then provided to the listener with appropriate amplification to insure audible speech across the usable frequency range.

  • Patent number: 6422191
Abstract: An engine management system for an internal combustion engine for an automobile includes an architecture for a super ultra low evaporative emission capability. In the present architecture, the fuel rail and injectors are located within the intake manifold such that permeating and evaporative emissions are contained within the intake manifold and a sealing throttle body and/or shut-off check valve is located between the air cleaner/induction components and the throttle body prevent hydrocarbon emissions from reaching the atmosphere. Additionally, a shut-off valve and/or programmable valve train are included to prevent hydrocarbons from the PCV valve and fresh air supply line from being vented to atmosphere. A one way check valve is located between the air induction and cleaner and the PCV fresh air supply such that hydrocarbons that are produced within the intake manifold may pass into the PCV fresh air supply line.
