  • Publication number: 20240194973
Abstract: Presented are thermal management systems using coolant flow distribution plates for immersion cooling of battery cells, methods for making/using such systems, and vehicles equipped with such systems for cooling the vehicles' battery packs. A battery assembly includes multiple battery cells arranged in adjacent, mutually parallel cell rows. The battery cells are stored inside a protective battery housing that includes inlet and outlet fluid ports for receiving and evacuating therethrough dielectric coolant fluid. A pair of (first and second) separator plates is located between each neighboring pair of cell rows. Each plate includes coolant channels that are arranged in mutually parallel channel bands. The separator plates are in face-to-face contact with each other such that each channel band of the first separator plate is aligned with a respective channel band of the second plate so the coolant channels cooperatively distribute coolant fluid onto and vertically upward between the battery cells.

  • Publication number: 20240004838
Abstract: This disclosure provides for a highly-efficient and scalable compression tool that compresses quality scores, preferably by capitalizing on sequence redundancy. In one embodiment, compression is achieved by smoothing a large fraction of quality score values based on k-mer neighborhood of their corresponding positions in read sequences. The approach exploits the intuition that any divergent base in a k-mer likely corresponds to either a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) or sequencing error; thus, a preferred approach is to only preserve quality scores for probable variant locations and compress quality scores of concordant bases, preferably by resetting them to a default value. By viewing individual read datasets through the lens of k-mer frequencies in a corpus of reads, the approach herein ensures that compression “lossiness” does not affect accuracy in a deleterious way.

  • Publication number: 20230417053
Abstract: This invention presents a wireless earbud case tailored for biometrics and wearable technology. Unlike basic charging cases like those of consumer earbuds in the market currently, this earbud case enriches mobile device interaction. The case processes biometric electroencephalography (EEG) data to aid in monitoring mood, sleep, and neurological health. It wirelessly links via Bluetooth or WiFi to transmit data to a mobile software. It charges earbuds and can indicate battery levels of the earbuds or the case itself. It receives, processes, and transmits EEG data from external sources like earbud-connected electrodes. Then, the processed data displays on devices like phones and computers. Compatible with EEG or magnetoencephalography earbuds, it offers electronic storage for the purpose of data security. This invention optimizes data flow to external devices, such as EEG earbuds for biometric and wearable tech applications.

  • Publication number: 20230389847
Abstract: The present disclosure involves the integration of conductive filaments or n-doped silicon with a rubber ear-tip. This combination allows for the detection of brain oscillation waves in EEG-enabled earbud systems. Previous implementations of ear tip electrodes involve multiple tiny electrodes embedded into the ear tip. However, unlike conventional designs, the presented solution utilizes the entire ear tip for conductivity, making a significant advancement in EEG technology in regards to data capturing. Other embodiments of the invention include partitioning the ear tip itself to make an electrode array for multiple reference points during detection of brain waves. These conductive ear tips enable accurate neural biometric detection. Incorporating magnets, the ear tips seamlessly attach to earbuds, enhancing convenience.

  • Publication number: 20190285084
Abstract: There is provided herein a reinforced fan blade construction which is reinforced at a proximal end thereof utilising a pair of opposing reinforcement brackets, typically metallic. In this way, the fan blade member may be manufactured from Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic or the like which is typically cheaper, lighter and easier to colour as opposed to other fan blade materials. Furthermore, plastic is noncorrosive allowing for outdoor application. The reinforcement brackets may comprise an elongate stem and an orthogonal cross piece. The orthogonal cross piece (which may be semicircular) may attached directly to the drive motor annulus such that inertial strain imparted thereon is spread along the elongate stem thereby reinforcing the proximal end of the fan blade.
