  • Publication number: 20180280524
Abstract: Monomers and copolymers are provided that both target antigen presenting cells (APCs) and activate toll-like receptor (TLR) on the APCs. In some embodiments, compositions and methods involve a polymer that targets the mannose receptor on APCs, in addition to activating a TLR. These can then be conjugated to protein antigens to efficiently target antigens to DCs and simultaneously induce the up-regulation of co-stimulatory molecules that are essential for effective T cell activation. This copolymer is a more efficient activator of DCs, as measured by the surface expression of co-stimulatory molecules and the release of proinflammatory cytokines, than the monomeric form the TLR agonist used in the polymer formulation. Aspects of the disclosure relate to novel compounds, methods, and compositions for treating diseases using the compounds, copolymers, and compositions described herein.

  • Publication number: 20180287686
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that support overriding a beam monitoring pattern for control channel transmissions based on channel conditions between a user equipment and a base station. A base station may select a beam monitoring pattern for transmitting control channel transmissions, which may include a pattern in which two or more beams are used for control channel transmissions. In the event that a first beam of the beams used in the beam monitoring pattern meets certain metrics, the use of one or more additional beams according to the beam monitoring pattern may be overridden and transmissions continued using the first beam. The metrics for continuing use of the first beam may include channel quality metrics, a number of consecutive successful transmissions using the first beam, one or more other metrics, or any combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20180286126
Abstract: Methods, computing devices and head-mounted display devices for displaying user interface elements with virtual objects are disclosed. In one example, a virtual object and one or more user interface elements are displayed within a physical environment. User input is received that moves one or more of the virtual object and the one or more user interface elements. One or more of the virtual object and the one or more user interface elements are determined to be within a predetermined distance of a physical surface. Based at least on this determination, the one or more user interface elements are displayed on the surface.

  • Publication number: 20180288757
Abstract: A base station may maintain multiple beam pair links, with one being actively used for communication. The active beam pair may become blocked. Accordingly, it may be necessary to switch to another beam pair. The apparatus may be an apparatus for wireless communication. The apparatus for wireless communication may include a memory and at least one processor coupled to the memory. The at least one processor is configured to determine a set of active beam pairs including at least a first beam pair and a second beam pair and select the first beam pair. The at least one processor is also configured to predict that the first beam pair is blocked, the prediction based on an expiration of a timer and sweep through the set of active beam pairs based on predicting that the first beam pair is blocked.

  • Patent number: 10090764
Abstract: A Hamiltonian surface shaping power flow control (HSSPFC) method is used to analyze the meta-stability and adjust pulsed power loads on a DC electric power distribution network. Pulsed power loads are nonlinear, time-variant systems that cause nonlinear limit-cycles. During the on periods of a pulsed load, the system can be in an unstable state and is damped back to stability during the off state of the load. Therefore, over the entire period of the pulse the system may only be assessed as meta-stable. As shown through simulation, HIL and hardware results, the HSSPFC method is more accurate than the other small-signal approaches, such as Eigenvalues, Nyquist, and Floquet theory, and can reveal important details about the transient responses and performance.

  • Patent number: 10086297
Abstract: Described herein is an apparatus and method to convey an object through the air in a controlled and repeatable manner. The apparatus may comprise an object attached to at least one resilient member, the resilient member or members constraining object movement in a substantially vertical y-axis direction. The apparatus may also comprise at least one support member coupled to the at least one resilient member, and the support member or members constrain object movement in a substantially horizontal x-axis direction. In use, the resilient member is energized, movement initiated, and object movement then occurs in both an x-axis and y-axis direction, the movement path substantially governed by the resilient member(s) and the support member(s). The apparatus and method may allow the object to experience a variety of movement sensations, one being the feeling of flight or gliding.

  • Patent number: 10087426
Abstract: The present invention relates to non-naturally occurring polypeptides useful for preparing armodafinil, polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides, and methods of using the polypeptides. The non-naturally occurring polypeptides of the present invention are effective in carrying out biocatalytic conversion of the (i) 2-(benzhydrylsulfinyl)acetamide to (?)-2-[(R)-(diphenylmethyl)sulfinyl]acetamide (armodafinil), or (ii) benzhydryl-thioacetic acid to (R)-2-(benzhydrylsulfinyl)acetic acid, which is a pivotal intermediate in the synthesis of armodafinil, in enantiomeric excess.

  • Patent number: 10089633
Abstract: A customer support application provides screen sharing of the user's computing device with a remote customer support agent, thereby enabling the customer support agent to view the content displayed on the user's device. The customer support agent can provide guidance to the user by transmitting support content back to the user's computing device, where the support content is displayed as an overlay on top of the user's normal user interface content. The screen sharing and support content may be supplemented with live audio and video communications between the user and the remote customer support agent, and the multiple modes of communication may be prioritized to maintain quality in the preferred communication mode.

  • Patent number: 10088892
Abstract: Controlling background activity in a computing device or system during a low-power mode is described. In some example techniques, when a computing device or system is in a low power mode, a determination is made whether to block one or more trigger events from causing an activation of one or more respective background task operations. Based at least in part on the determination, at least one trigger event may be allowed to cause an activation of a respective background task operation during the low power mode.

  • Patent number: 10085821
Abstract: A mouthpiece includes first and second bodies over teeth of a user. The bodies comprise frames with a bite pad between upper and lower teeth. The bite pad is molded in the frames while in situ in the mouth. The frames, prior to having the bite pads in place are hollow spaces with spanning elements spaced from each other projecting into the hollow space between a top and a bottom of each of the frames. An upper wall of the frame includes an inwardly directed lip directed towards a space inside the frames. A lower wall of the frame is extended in height relatively longer than the upper wall. A shim or a clip is inserted between the incisor edges for facilitating alignment of the incisor edges. The connector includes a slot for accommodating an extension of the shim when the shim is located with the connector.
