  • Patent number: 8926889
Abstract: Particular embodiments of the invention include methods and apparatus for molding and/or curing an article. Particular embodiments of such methods include positioning a mold core centrally within mold outer portion to form an annular mold cavity between the mold outer portion and the mold core, the core including an outer ring having an outer surface for engaging the annular article, the outer ring being formed of a material capable of expanding and contracting with changes in temperature. Such methods also include heating the mold outer ring, cooling the core outer ring subsequent to the step of heating, whereby the core outer ring contracts relative to the article and removing the article from the core outer ring.

  • Patent number: 8925145
Abstract: A cleaning appliance comprising a main body and a separating apparatus including a dirt collector having a base that is openable that allows the dirt collector to be emptied. The cleaning appliance includes an actuator that is operable sequentially such that, during a first operation, the actuator causes the base to be opened and, during a second operation, the actuator causes the dirt collector to disengage from the separating apparatus. A single actuator is therefore used for two functions: firstly to open the dirt collector for emptying purposes and, secondly, to disengage the dirt collector from the separating apparatus for example for cleaning purposes. Such an arrangement is space efficient and intuitive for the user.

  • Patent number: 8929012
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a low noise amplifier (LNA) configuration that compensates for DC offsets of incoming signals from a magnetoresistive head. According to various embodiments, the LNA includes a shunt-feedback differential pair of amplifiers adaptively biased according to a detected input DC voltage offset of the incoming signals from the magnetoresistive head. The LNA is thus enabled to amplify the AC signal component substantially unaffected by the DC offset. The DC component in the LNA output signal is then removable via offset compensating circuitry located between the LNA and subsequent stages without significant signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) penalty.

  • Patent number: 8925429
Abstract: A radial foldout tool includes a body with opposing ends and one or more sets of tool drivers. A first set of tool drivers are positioned on/near a first end and a second set of tool drivers are positioned on/near a second end. The tool drivers are contained within channels of the body when in a closed position. The tool drivers are also contained in a plurality of planes. The tool drivers open by rotating/moving in a direction at least perpendicular to a neighboring tool driver. When they are in an open position, each of the tool drivers are in/near the center of the end of the body. By being positioned in/near the center of the end, the radial foldout tool is able to be gripped and turned in a fashion similar to a standard screwdriver.

  • Publication number: 20150003559
Abstract: A data processing apparatus maps input symbols to be communicated onto a predetermined number of sub-carrier signals of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) symbol. The data processor includes an interleaver memory which reads-in the predetermined number of data symbols for mapping onto the OFDM sub-carrier signals. The interleaver memory reads-out the data symbols on to the OFDM sub-carriers to effect the mapping, the read-out being in a different order than the read-in, the order being determined from a set of addresses, with the effect that the data symbols are interleaved on to the sub-carrier signals. The set of addresses are generated from an address generator which comprises a linear feedback shift register and a permutation circuit.

  • Publication number: 20150002249
Abstract: A permanent magnet is pivotally mounted in a top spacer layer of a switching device and rests on a flex arm created in an underlying flex circuit layer. The underside of the flex arm rests on a thin bar formed in a lower spacer layer beneath which lies a base layer including an electromagnet. Activation of the electromagnet causes rotation of the flex arm to thereby close and open electrical contacts formed respectively on the underside of the flex arm and on the top surface of the base layer.

  • Publication number: 20150007175
Abstract: Approaches to enable the configuration of computing resources for executing virtual machines on behalf of users to be cryptographically attested to or verified. When a user requests a virtual machine to be provisioned, an operator of the virtualized computing environment can initiate a two phase launch of the virtual machine. In the first phase, the operator provisions the virtual machine on a host computing device and obtains cryptographic measurements of the software and/or hardware resources on the host computing device. The operator may then provide those cryptographic measurements to the user that requested the virtual machine. If the user approves the cryptographic measurements, the operator may proceed with the second phase and actually launch the virtual machine on the host. In some cases, operator may compare the cryptographic measurements to a list of approved measurements to determine whether the host computing device is acceptable for hosting the virtual machine.

  • Publication number: 20150007197
Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable and executable instructions are provided for mapping application dependencies. Mapping application dependencies can include defining an application model with a number of application dependencies that enables an application to run and defining a platform model that defines a number of capabilities that are provided by a server. Mapping application dependencies can also include creating a topology model that maps the application model to the platform model at runtime by mapping the number of application dependencies to the number of capabilities while the application remains independent from the server.

  • Patent number: 8924484
Abstract: When a user receives potential junk e-mail from an unknown sender address, an active filter installed in or cooperating with the user's e-mail system sends a challenge e-mail back to the sender address. Unless the user receives a correct response e-mail from the sender address and/or a response that meets formal criteria, the active filter rejects the original e-mail and blocks future e-mail from that sender address. The challenge preferably includes a question that the sender must correctly answer in his response. The question is such that only humans can interpret and respond to it correctly. For example, the question may relate to and/or be incorporated in an image in the challenge. Lists of approved and blocked sender addresses are compiled. The user may directly enter addresses in the address lists. Addresses to which the user has sent e-mail may also be included directly in the approved list.
