  • Patent number: 8919746
Abstract: A humidifier for a fuel cell system comprises a stack of thin plates having planar sealing surfaces at their edges. A water permeable membrane is provided between each pair of plates. Each plate defines a gas flow passage along its top and bottom surfaces, with an inlet and outlet defined along edges of the plate, and a flow field extending between the inlet and outlet openings. Inlet and outlet passages connect the inlet and outlet openings to the flow field, and the planar sealing surfaces on both sides of the plate include bridging portions which extend across the inlet and outlet passages. Support structures are provided throughout the flow field and the inlet and outlet passages to support the membrane and diffusion medium layer(s). The support structures may optionally be connected together by webs having holes for flow distribution between the top and bottom of each plate.

  • Patent number: 8924570
Abstract: That a trigger for creating a temporary collaborative ad-hoc network of hardware nodes has occurred is detected. In response, the temporary collaborative ad-hoc network is created via intercommunication among the hardware nodes. After the temporary collaborative ad-hoc network has been created, the temporary collaborative ad-hoc network performs a given function. A particular hardware node within the temporary collaborative ad-hoc network can perform a roll call request so that it ascertains a list of the hardware nodes within the temporary collaborative ad-hoc network. Performing the roll call request can include ascertaining that a correctness of the list of the hardware nodes satisfies a threshold, such that the correctness of the list of the hardware nodes is not necessarily completely correct.

  • Patent number: 8924898
Abstract: An automated processor design tool uses a description of customized processor instruction set extensions in a standardized language to develop a configurable definition of a target instruction set, a Hardware Description Language description of circuitry necessary to implement the instruction set, and development tools such as a compiler, assembler, debugger and simulator which can be used to develop applications for the processor and to verify it. Implementation of the processor circuitry can be optimized for various criteria such as area, power consumption, speed and the like. Once a processor configuration is developed, it can be tested and inputs to the system modified to iteratively optimize the processor implementation. By providing a constrained domain of extensions and optimizations, the process can be automated to a high degree, thereby facilitating fast and reliable development.

  • Patent number: 8924724
Abstract: A document encryption and decryption system for selectively encrypting and decrypting files and any other items and method for same to protect or secure its contents by helping to prevent unauthorized individuals from viewing data in human-perceivable or readable form. The encryption system includes remote authentication to verify a user's credentials stored on a remote database hosted by a web server. The encryption system further includes remote delete to automatically delete encrypted items stored on the user's computer, handheld or portable device, smartphone, and any other computing device of any kind when it logs onto a network if the user's computer or computing device is reported lost, stolen, or otherwise compromised. Decryption keys allow selective decryption of encrypted items that are on the computer or computing device of any kind. A Windows Communication Foundation service helps with authenticating the users with the encryption key and login process stored and processed by the web server.

  • Patent number: 8920929
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a flexible, halogen-free, flame retardant composition. The composition includes from about 25 wt % to about 95 wt % of a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU); from about 5 wt % to about 50 wt % of an olefin block copolymer (OBC); and from about 30 wt % to about 70 wt % of a flame retardant. The flame retardant is selected from resorcinol bis(diphenyl 5 phosphate) (RDP), bis diphenyl phosphate (BDP), bisphenol-A bis(diphenyl phosphate) (BPADP), aluminum trihydrate (ATH), a nitrogen/phosphorus-based halogen-free flame retardant, epoxidized novolac resin, and combinations thereof. The composition requires no compatibilizer for the TPU and OBC. The composition finds application in wire and cable structures.

  • Publication number: 20140373316
Abstract: A clamping device for attaching or holding a sheet material has an upper clamping surface on an upper jaw with a series of protuberances formed with at least a curved shape about a center of a sheet material clamp, and a lower clamping surface on a lower jaw member having a series of protuberances which mate with the upper clamping surface protuberances in a nesting manner, such that closing of the sheet material clamp brings the upper clamping surface and the lower clamping surfaces into a nesting juxtapositioned position, thereby capturing a sheet material between the surfaces using compression or crimping. The pattern of protuberances may be concentric circular protuberances, other closed geometric protuberances, or semi-circular with rounded or tapered ends to avoid presentation of a sharp edge to a clamped sheet material.

  • Publication number: 20140374336
Abstract: The present invention presents a filtration system with an integrated manifold valve. The filtration system employs only one pivotal component—the pivoting of the manifold. The manifold valve includes a dual aperture design for a two-fold alignment scheme with the ingress and egress lines of the fluid source. The invention is free of multi-component rotary valve with internal, rotatable parts, or an activation component, such as a handle, for initiating the rotary valve, allowing the user to rotate the rotational components thereof. The reduction in moveable components in this design reduces the likelihood of failure and increases the reliability of the filtration system.

  • Publication number: 20140376542
Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a device is configured to automatically contact a Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) service provider using a communication system that is not native to the VoIP service provider. The device can receive and/or intercept a representation of a first address that is not directed to the VoIP service provider, and generate a representation of a second address effective to contact the VoIP service provider using the representation of the second address. Some embodiments provide an ability to program and/or query a device using telecommunication signaling. In some cases, a service provider can remotely manage firmware and/or software updates to the device using the telecommunication signaling. Alternately or additionally, an end user can manually program information into the device through the telecommunication signaling, such as a predefined address associated with the service provider.

  • Publication number: 20140374433
Abstract: A dispenser including a rear housing member and a front housing member that are connected by way of a first hinge so that the front housing member is openable relative to the rear housing member in order to fill a space defined by the front housing member and the rear housing member with at least one stack of sheet products. The front housing member and the rear housing member also include components for forming a second hinge. The first hinge allows the front housing member to open from a first side of the rear housing member in a first rotational direction, and the second hinge, when formed, allows the front housing member to rotate in an opposite direction from an opposite side of the rear housing member.

  • Publication number: 20140373318
Abstract: A closing actuator for a sheet material clamp has a first threaded orifice in a lower clamping jaw with a threaded interior wall, a second non-threaded orifice formed in an upper clamping jaw which has a retention groove formed around the non-threaded interior wall; and an actuating screw with a retention shoulder formed between the head and the threaded shank, such that the threaded shank mates with the threaded first orifice in the lower clamping jaw and the retention shoulder snaps into the retention groove, thereby capturing the actuating screw in the upper clamping jaw when threaded into the lower clamping jaw. The second orifice may be a slotted or oval shape to allow the actuating screw to pass through the upper jaw at an angle other than perpendicularly to the upper jaw as the jaws assume various angles of relationship to each other during clamp closing and opening.
