  • Publication number: 20190312708
Abstract: Wireless devices may employ techniques for indicating alternative modulation coding schemes (MCSs) (e.g., MCS values or MCS indices not associated with a default list or default MCS table). That is, communications (e.g., such as physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmissions carrying downlink control information (DCI), physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions carrying uplink grants, etc.) may include information (e.g., in MCS fields and reserved fields) that indicate alternative MCSs for subsequent communications. For example, random access radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI) scrambled DCI, random access response (RAR) messages, etc., may indicate an alternative MCS for subsequent messages in a random access procedure (e.g., for a RAR, an RRC connection request, etc.). The alternative MCS may be conveyed by indicating information such as MCS scaling factors, alternative MCS table IDs, MCS indices associated with the alternative MCS table, or some combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20190313393
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a signal identifying a first beam configuration and a second beam configuration to be used for performing a beamformed transmission of a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) signal. The UE may determine, for a first PUCCH transmission occasion associated with the first beam configuration, that a communication metric associated with performing the beamformed transmission of the PUCCH signal using the first beam configuration fails to satisfy a threshold. The UE may perform, at a second PUCCH transmission occasion and based at least in part on the determining, the beamformed transmission of the PUCCH signal according to the second beam configuration.

  • Publication number: 20190313428
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for transmissions of multiple instances of control information, such as remaining minimum system information (RMSI), that may be used for system access by a user equipment (UE). The multiple instances of the control information may be combined at the UE to enhance the likelihood of successful decoding of the control information. A base station may transmit an indication that combining of multiple instances of control information is supported by the base station, and may transmit the multiple instances of control information via configured downlink transmission resources. A UE may receive the indication that combining of multiple control information instances is supported, may identify two or more instances within downlink transmission resources configured for control information transmissions, and may combine signals received in each of the two or more instances to generate a combined control information signal.

  • Publication number: 20190312056
Abstract: A method comprises forming material to be etched over a substrate. An etch mask comprising a silicon nitride-comprising region is formed elevationally over the material. The etch mask comprises an elevationally-extending mask opening in the silicon nitride-comprising region that has a minimum horizontal open dimension that is greater in an elevationally-innermost portion of the region than in an elevationally-outermost portion of the region. The elevationally-outermost portion has a greater etch rate in at least one of HF and H3PO4 than does the elevationally-innermost portion. The etch mask is used as a mask while etching an elevationally-extending mask opening into the material. The silicon nitride-comprising region is exposed to at least one of HF and H3PO4 to increase the minimum horizontal open dimension in the elevationally-outermost portion to a greater degree than increase, if any, in the minimum horizontal open dimension in the elevationally-innermost portion.
