  • Patent number: 6924648
Abstract: A method is for identifying risks as a result of stray currents which flow to ground from a rail which returns a traction current in a track with a DC power supply. In accordance with a first embodiment, in which the voltage between the rail and ground is measured and an increased risk as a result of stray currents is indicated if there is a discrepancy from a voltage reference value, provision is made for the voltage to be measured at a plurality of measurement points along the track and for the measurements to be evaluated in an evaluation center. In accordance with a second embodiment, provision is made for activating a short-circuiter to connect a parallel path to the rail for returning the traction current. The current level in the parallel path is then measured and an increased risk as a result of stray currents is indicated if there is a discrepancy from a current-level reference value.

  • Patent number: 6895935
Abstract: A fuel injection system includes a pressure booster having a displaceable piston which can be subjected to pressure via a pressure booster chamber on the low-pressure side for compressing the fuel in a pressure booster chamber on the high-pressure side to be delivered to an injector. The stroke of the piston is controllable by the pressure in a differential chamber of the pressure booster and is used to vary the fuel pressure delivered to the injector. Means for continuously variable definition of the inlet cross section to the pressure booster chamber of the pressure booster on the low-pressure side or of the outlet cross section from the differential chamber of the pressure booster are provided.

  • Patent number: 6883498
Abstract: A pressure booster of a fuel injection system includes a displaceable piston unit (30a, 31a), which on one end can be subjected to pressure via a pressure booster chamber on the low-pressure side and on the other end has a pressure booster chamber on the high-pressure side for fuel compression. The piston unit has a further piston cross section, which is reduced compared to the first piston cross section provided for imposing pressure, for embodying a differential chamber that is connectable to a leak fuel line. At least one control conduit connects the pressure booster chamber on the low-pressure side to the differential chamber, whose opening is closed or opened as a function of the motion of at least parts of the piston unit.

  • Patent number: 6859474
Abstract: The invention discloses improved structures of light-processing (e.g. light-emitting and light-absorbing/sensing) devices, in particular Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs), such as may find use in telecommunications applications. The disclosed VSCAL devices and production methods provide for an active region having a quantum well structure grown on GaAs-containing substrates, thus providing processing compatibility for light having wavelength in the range 1.0 to 1.6 ?m. The active region structure combines strain-compensating barriers with different band alignments in the quantum wells to achieve a long emission wavelength while at the same time decreasing the strain in the structure. The improved functioning of the devices disclosed results from building them with multicomponent alloy layers having a large number of constituents.

  • Publication number: 20040232735
Abstract: A lock suited for a removable roof of a motor vehicle, especially a passenger car, is held against a fixed structural part such as a rollover bar of a body of the motor vehicle by way of a locking member of the lock. The lock has a first actuating element and a second actuating element, and the first actuating element is surrounded by the second actuating element surface-flush. The actuating elements act in conjunction with each other such that only upon operating the first actuating element can the second actuating element be moved from a closed position into an open position. To ensure that the lock has a simple design and good functionality while requiring little space, the first actuating element effects the open position of the lock with a lifting motion and the second actuating element with a rotary motion. The locking member of the lock is connected torsion-resistant by way of a bearing shaft to the second actuating element.

  • Publication number: 20040232734
Abstract: A removable roof designed for a motor vehicle can be inserted into a stowage space of a body of the motor vehicle in a state detached from the body of the motor vehicle and is held in position using receptacles and holding devices. In order to optimize accommodation, two roof elements, which are separable on a median longitudinal plane of the body, are fixed in position, superposed as a first roof element and as a second roof element, into the receptacles of the stowage space using holding devices.

  • Publication number: 20040232736
Abstract: This removable roof, which is suited for a motor vehicle such as a passenger car, overarches a passenger space in a body of the passenger car and is held on fixed body structures of the body. The roof is provided with at least one locking device, is made of dimensionally rigid material, and includes two roof elements assembled in a median longitudinal plane of the passenger car. For optimization of the roof, each roof element has a locking apparatus and cooperates with a bracing apparatus which counteracts moments on a bracing apparatus lying on one of the fixed body structures, such as a roll bar device, upon actuation of a locking part of the locking apparatus to which a boundary wall of the roof element running adjacent to the locking apparatus is exposed.

  • Patent number: 5692908
Abstract: An apparatus for connecting two electrical connecting conductors to an electrical device, in which the ends of the connecting conductors are injection molded into a connection piece and connected to connection contacts which are secured onto a securing pin in a manner lying one behind the other and coaxially isolated by an insulating piece and, by means of a screwing part, the connection contacts, make contact with connection elements which are likewise mutually electrically isolated by means of an insulating part. In order to secure any desired rotational position, the connection piece has a peripheral toothing of the electrical device. This permits space-saving production, which is amenable to assembly, of an electrical connection between connecting conductor and electrical device, it being possible to bring the external connecting conductors into a desired position with little outlay.
