    Abstract: A constant current source that has a band-gap reference voltage source with three transistors, where the third transistor is connected with the input of a current balancing circuit whose output controls current sources for the first and second transistors of the band-gap reference voltage source as well as a current source for generating a constant output current and which can be connected via a resistor both with the operating voltage source and with the reference potential by the use of a switch. This circuit results in a low power consumption because it is switched on by the use of a switch only when required and in the switched-off state draws a minimum amount of leakage current.

    Abstract: A respirator with blower support for the flow through at least two filters in the breathing gas lead is provided such that the flow of one of the filters temporarily is in the inhalation direction and the other flow is in the exhalation direction respectively and their flow through direction is periodically reversible. This allows flow through of the filter in small volumes without a premature bursting or filter depletion. The wearer comfort should remain and the blower support is not diminished in its operation.

    Abstract: A chemical oxygen generator for use in respirators and resuscitators for providing an oxygen reserve includes oxygen in chemically bound compacts or oxygen single-candles and the oxygen is released when needed in the course of a chemical reaction. The oxygen single candles are fitted together axially in a canister in modular construction with incandescence elements therebetween. In the cover of the canister, opposite the upper end wall of the first single candle, there is an igniting device, and in the bottom, an outlet opening for the escape of the released oxygen. As soon as the first oxygen single-candle is activated by means of the igniting device, the oxygen reaction sets in and a reaction front moves in the direction of the next single candle. The reaction transmission to the next single candle occurs through the intermediate incandescence element.

    Abstract: A breathing apparatus removably mounted in a housing has a device for processing the breathing gas. This device includes a container and a charge for processing the breathing air which is disposed in the container. The container has air pass-through openings at least one of which is closable with a stopper. The breathing apparatus provides an indication of possible entry of water vapor and this indication is limited to only the water-vapor sensitive parts of the breathing apparatus. For this purpose, a charge is provided in the stopper having a moisture-sensitive indicator which is visible through a viewing window from outside the housing and this charge is in gas contact with the charge of the device for processing the breathing gas.

    Abstract: A pellet of potassium superoxide, as the oxygen-yielding chemical, with an additive of catalyst material for stimulating the release of oxygen is improved by providing a concentrated addition of the catalyst material on the surface of the pellet; this permits a uniform release of oxygen during the entire period of the use of the pellet. With the pellet, oxygen is split off as required at the very outset of breathing with the breathing apparatus and a release of oxygen in excess of demand as use continues is avoided. A pellet of this type includes a compressed core body containing substantially potassium superoxide and surrounded by a compressed jacket made of highly catalyzed potassium superoxide material.

    Abstract: Modern fiber material filters for floating particles remove floating substances from the air or gas flow conducted through them. In addition to the pure screening properties it is electrostatic forces, generated either by the flowing action or by accessory equipment, which make it possible to obtain the high degrees of separation, such as at least 99.97%, for example. An electrostatic filter for floating particles contains an electrode on each of the inlet and discharge sides. The electrostatic field through which the retaining ability is increased is generated by an oppositely polarized voltage. The floating particles filter according to the invention contains an electrode on the discharge side in the form of a metallic vapor deposit on the dielectric, folded filter material. This electrode retains every last floating particle which, above all, are then still located within the filter material itself, so that in case of a power failure, they cannot blow away.

    Abstract: A housing contains a diffusion indicator tube provided with a predetermined breaking point and the housing has an upper part and a lower part joined together by a film hinge. To open the inserted diffusion indicator tube its predetermined breaking point is positioned opposite the film hinge. By bending the housing parts, the break-off end breaks off the test tube at the predetermined breaking point, thereby opening the reaction section. The parts of the test tube are removed, and then the reaction section is pushed into the upper part, now with its closed end first, whereupon it is snapped into the lower part. Its opening at the bottom shoulder of the lower part is exposed to the ambient atmosphere which diffuses into it. In the presence of the gas to be monitored there will be discoloration due to reaction. The discoloration can be observed continuously through the open side of the holding means.

    Abstract: A breathing device wall package suitable for a wall mounting comprises a filter container part having a gas filter with an inspiration opening and a suspended matter filter adjacent the gas filter with an air intake opening. A breathing mask, for example, a half mask is engaged on the filter container around the inspiration opening. A cover engages over the filter container part and encloses the breathing mask and includes a plug which is engageable with the air intake opening as well as the inspiration opening in order to close them when the cover is in position. When the cover is removed the openings are opened and the mask is immediately available for use.

    Abstract: A breathing alcohol testing device comprises a tube for blowing expiration air therethrough which has a first air entrance end and an opposite second end with means for accommodating a testing tube containing a gas detection substance. A pump is connected to the tube for moving expiration air through the tube and pressure sensing means are associated with the tube for sensing the pressure adjacent the entrance end for regulating the pump in accordance with the sensed pressure. In addition to the sensing of pressure, velocity may also be sensed and a control device is connected between the sensors and the pump so as to regulate the pump to start after the tube is engaged in a person's mouth and he begins expiring his breath into the tube and a certain pressure is generated at a certain velocity. The pump may be provided directly in the line ahead of the gas testing device for forcing the breathing air through the tube and through the testing device or it may be provided downstream of the testing device.

    Abstract: A filter construction particularly for vehicles and other spaces closed to the outside comprises a housing which has a filter compartment for containing the filter element with an opening to the compartment. A cover closes the opening and a locking mechanism for locking the cover in the closed position includes a slot defined in a frame portion of the housing and a lever member which is pivoted on the cover. The lever member has one arm portion with a nose which engages into the slot in the locked position and an opposite arm portion which carries a part of a bayonet joint which aligns with a complimentary part on the cover to fix the lever in the locked position. When the bayonet joint is released, the lever may be pivoted on the cover.
