  • Patent number: 4154236
Abstract: An oxygen respirator, comprises a portable container having a cartridge chamber with a cylindrical oxygen-supplying chemical cartridge centrally located in the chamber and with a replaceable CO.sub.2 -absorbing cartridge concentrically surrounding the chemical cartridge. The cartridge chamber is closed by a baseplate which includes a mouthpiece connection defining a mouthpiece passage for respirator air for the user which connects downwardly into the chamber through an associated check valve for flow downwardly through the annular CO.sub.2 -absorbing cartridge and upwardly through the oxygen-supplying chemical cartridge which, after initial ignition, supplies oxygen to the respiratory air which is circulated back to the mouthpiece passage either directly or through a breathing bag which is mounted in the respiratory air breathing passages.

  • Patent number: 4146597
Abstract: A respiratory air humidifier comprises a plurality of hollow tubules having walls of a foil material which is impermeable to water but is permeable to steam vapor. The tubules have inside diameters of less than 300 microns and are about 15 microns thick. Breathing gas to be humidified is directed over one side of the foil for example through the tubules and the water is directed over the opposite side for example the exterior of the tubules.

  • Patent number: 4083226
Abstract: A portable explosion-proof gas detection device, comprises a housing which defines an interior flameproof motor chamber with an electric motor in the chamber having a pump drive shaft which extends outwardly into a pump chamber having a rotor connected to the electric motor shaft. The rotor engages a hose connection which is arranged in an openable chamber and which is engaged by a rotor over a pump squeezing surface defined the housing surrounding wall. The hose is connected through a twin fitting to a holder for a testing tube which has an opening at each end is positionable in a tube holder so that its open end is oriented in an opening in the housing for the inflow of air through the tube and through the pump for discharge out of the housing. The apparatus includes a control knob which actuates an electrical control circuit which is magnetically actuable by rotation of the knob to energize the electric motor from a battery source which is also arranged within the housing.

  • Patent number: 4045192
Abstract: A mobile air filtering apparatus for hospital rooms, comprises a housing having an inlet and an outlet. A pre-filter is located at the inlet and a fan for directing air in succession through a heater, a diffusion foil moistener and a mechanical filter. The diffusion foil moistener is located between the heater and the mechanical filter and it includes a heat exchange conduit for conducting the water to the moistener which is coiled around the filter. The filter housing is mounted on a fork-shaped arm which is carried on a stand in an adjustable position and the stand is moved around with its associated carriage filter.
