  • Patent number: 9290395
Abstract: A method for stabilising or raising the pH of bodies of water and/or neutralising bodies of water is illustrated and described. According to the invention a feed material containing an unburnt lime product, the unburnt lime product having a granularity with a fraction <about 10 ?m of ?50%, is used to stabilise or raise the pH and/or neutralise bodies of water. With the aid of the proposed method the pH of bodies of water can be stabilised, raised and/or bodies of water can be neutralised effectively and in an ecologically harmless manner, and at low cost.

  • Patent number: 6579996
Abstract: A method for removing free fatty acids from fats or oils of biological origin or their steam distillates by extracting the free fatty acids with a mixture of basic organic nitrogen compounds and water as an extraction medium at a temperature below the boiling point of the organic nitrogen compounds. The content of the basic organic nitrogen compounds in the extraction medium is 20-30% by weight. In this manner, the formation of a viscous soapstock which is difficult to remove is prevented. The boiling point of the basic organic nitrogen compounds used is the same as or above boiling point of water and below the boiling point of the fatty acids to be extracted in order to enable simple recovery of the extraction medium.

Abstract: To remove free fatty acids from fats or oils of biological origin or their steam distillates, it is proposed to extract the free fatty acids with a mixture of basic organic nitrogen compounds and water as extraction medium at a temperature below the boiling point of the organic nitrogen compounds. The content of the basic organic nitrogen compounds in the extraction medium shall be at least about 20% by weight and at most about 60% by weight, preferably between about 30% by weight and about 40% by weight. In this manner, the formation of a viscous soapstock which is difficult to remove is prevented. The boiling point of the basic organic nitrogen compound(s) used shall be the same as or above the boiling point of water and below the boiling point of the fatty acids to be extracted in order to enable simple recovery of the extraction medium.

  • Patent number: 5803446
Abstract: A method for singling loose sheet material, in particular bank notes, wherein the sheet material is supplied in an input pocket in the form of a stack in a defined position for vertical feed of the sheet material to a singler. The sheet material is moved within the input pocket vertically from the feed position to a singling position. While the preceding stack is still being singled in the singler, the next stack to be singled is already supplied in the input pocket of the singler in the defined feed position.

  • Patent number: 5722083
Abstract: A process for directing a subscriber toward a destination within an SDMA mobile radio network, and a processor-controlled facility (BSC) which operates accordingly are proposed. This facility contains a communications interface unit (IF1) for receiving a message that specifies a destination (DES) desired by a subscriber, and a microprocessor which determines the current location (LOC) of the subscriber by evaluating directional and distance information (.alpha., R). The processor-controlled facility (MSC) furthermore contains communications interface unit (IF2) whereby it retrieves information (INFO) from a data base (DB), which defines a route from the location (LOC) to the destination (DES). This information is transmitted in summary form to the subscriber's mobile radio terminal (MS).

  • Patent number: 5466669
Abstract: There is disclosed an immunostimulatory agent comprising a peptide derived from lactoferrin having activity to modulate the release of inflammatory mediators from cells of the immune system. The peptide promotes the release of leukotriene B4 from polymorphonuclear neutrophils induced by activators such as the calcium ionophor A23187, It also promotes the release of histamine from mast cells induced by activators such as .alpha.-toxin-producing Staphylococcus aureus cells or the calcium ionophor A23187. The peptide is effective at low concentrations within the range of 1 to 100 ppm. By promoting the release of such inflammatory mediators the peptide can potentiate the cellular immune response and stimulate the host defense against infectious disease. This newly discovered immunostimulatory agent is useful as an active component of pharmaceuticals, hygiene products, clinical foods, etc., for prevention and treatment of bacterial, fungal, and viral infectious in humans and animals.
