Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, computer systems and computer program products are provided for creating and processing a browser compliant human interface description. A predefined application specific human interface description using application specific layout elements is transformed into a standardized human interface description using basic layout elements. The standardized human interface description is decomposed into a human interface layout template and a data description. A data instance is instantiated from the data description. The data instance is merged with the human interface layout template into an individual browser compliant human interface description, which is then rendered to prompt a user for data input. The received data from the user are stored in the data instance. The status of at least one layout element is either stored in the data instance or in a runtime-copy of the standardized human interface description.

Abstract: A plurality of domain-specific service adaptation languages can be supported by a back-end service adaptation system to provide runtime access to a runtime instance of a data object comprising data stored in a repository. By defining a language-specific data access service and parser for each domain-specific service adaptation language, a single, service adaptation language-independent compiler and interpreter can prepare and execute a runtime load that includes an execution plan for retrieving and converting data from the repository for delivery in a data object according to a query request from a consumer runtime environment. A consumer using the consumer runtime environment can define the service adaptation language to be used and provide a parser and source code to enable access to business object data using the back-end service adaptation system.

The computer system provides a predefined document description. The document description is decomposed into a layout template and a data description. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, decomposition is achieved by using style sheet language transformations. Optionally, the computer system may instantiate a data instance from the data description and merge the data instance with the layout template into an individual document description. The individual document description can be rendered by a conventional browser.

The structured queries may be defined in a business object-specific structured query language (BQL). A BQL engine can translate the structured query into a query suited for use by the appropriate business object. Embodiments may include a search infrastructure to create indexed views of business objects and a local client proxy to handle requests not handled by indexed views.
