  • Patent number: 6557408
Abstract: The match with a measurement characteristic curve of a device for air flow measurement is disturbed by pulsations, soiling and poor flow behavior. An improvement in the measuring performance of the device is achieved by provisions, which are adapted to one another, for reducing these sources of trouble, according to which the flow cross section of an inlet conduit narrows in a flow direction in the inlet conduit toward a deflection conduit, and a peripheral face of a first portion of the deflection conduit is embodied in inclined fashion, and at least one outer face of a sensor carrier, together with a peripheral face, closer to an outlet conduit, of the inlet conduit, forms a flush transition.

  • Patent number: 6556929
Abstract: A device for detecting a pulsating variable, for instance the air flowing in the intake tube of an engine, is disclosed in which the signal processing and the correction of the pulsation error are done in an evaluation device which is a constituent of the sensor. At the output of the signal processor, the sensor, for instance a hot-film air flow rate meter, outputs a corrected output signal, which is directly a measure of the variable to be determined, such as the mass of the air flowing in the intake tube of an internal combustion engine.

  • Publication number: 20030041412
Abstract: The invention concerns a cabinet hinge with a depth adjusting device for hinge arm held directly or indirectly on a cabinet-side, single- or multi-part mounting plate. A revolvable depth adjusting screw held in the mounting plate is provided in order to adjust the depth. A driver plate is connected with the hinge arm; whereby, the depth adjusting screw has adjusting elements that work together with corresponding adjusting surfaces on the driver plate in such a way that by turning the depth adjusting screw, the driver plate and the hinge arm are moved in relation to the mounting plate. The invention offers the advantage that with only turn, the depth adjusting screw can finely and delicately adjust the depth position of the hinge arm over its entire adjustment range.

  • Patent number: 6522153
Abstract: A method for the quick classification of structured inner and/or outer surfaces of heat exchanger tubes by means of Doppler radar spectroscopy. The measured variables are determined from the frequency spectra. Surface integral A, average value m and variance S (or standard deviation &sgr;={square root over (S)}) correlate directly with the geometric parameters of the structure morphology. They permit direct conclusions regarding the heat transfer characteristics (evaporation/condensation performance) of the respective structure, in particular no tube samples ready for use are needed for the heat transfer classification.

  • Publication number: 20020166207
Abstract: The invention concerns a hinge, in particular a cabinet hinge with a baseplate that fastens to the cabinet body and a baseplate with a supporting adjusting plate than can be connected to the cabinet hinge, so that a secure fastening of the catch connection is provided. In order to attain a stabile connection that, at the same time, provides an easy assembly, the baseplate is formed in two parts—one lower part that fastens to the cabinet body and an upper part that tenses into the lower part. A height adjusting screw is provided to secure and vertically adjust the upper part on the lower part and has at least one eccentric or cam disks with an angle-dependent modification of the radius and whose eccentric or cam disk work together with at least one corresponding gliding cam of the upper part.

  • Patent number: 6468563
Abstract: A process for producing rapidly disintegrating pharmaceutical formulations containing an extract is provided. The process comprises providing a dry powdered extract and a lubricant, compacting the powdered extract with the lubricant, using between about 0.5-10% lubricant by weight. The compacting is done using a device that yields flakes. The flakes are then crushed into granules, and the granules are compressed with conventional excipients such as bulking agents, glidants, disintegrants, flow regulators and other additives into pharmaceutical formulations.

  • Patent number: 6460943
Abstract: A method controls brake pressure for a motor vehicle pressure medium-actuated power brake system in which the adjustment of a proportionality factor (k) between deceleration and brake pressure starting from an initial value (ko) is limited to a range bounded by a lower limit value and an upper limit value in which range the initial value (ko) is contained. This produces a warning travel of the pedal when excessive deviation of the brake pressure from the expected value occurs. The warning travel informs the driver of the braking effect which is deviating excessively from the expected degree. Methods are known in which a specific travel (sp) of the brake pedal is interpreted as a setting of a specific desired deceleration (zs) of the vehicle and the required brake pressure is set automatically if appropriate by incrementally adjusting a variable proportionality factor (k).

  • Publication number: 20020110713
Abstract: A fuel cell assembly has an improved gas sensor. The improved sensor measures the gas concentrations in the interior fluid passages within a fuel cell assembly or within fluid passages employed to transport reactant fluid streams to or from the fuel cell(s). The improved sensor is particularly suited for use in the environment within the reactant fluid passages of a solid polymer fuel cell assembly and is tolerant to the presence of water. The sensor employs an active electrode; a passive electrode; and an electrolyte in contact with both electrodes. The electrolyte is disposed on a substrate and a heater is located in thermal contact with the substrate for heating the substrate and the electrolyte. In a preferred embodiment, the active electrode comprises platinum, the passive electrode is gold and the electrolyte comprises a layer of zirconium dioxide less than one hundred microns thick.

  • Patent number: 6418903
Abstract: The invention relates to a connection of a crankcase (3) of an internal combustion engine (1) to a cylinder housing (2) of which at least one housing part is made of light metal. The housing parts (2, 3) lie with their respective housing flanges (4, 5) in surface contact one against the other and are clamped seal-tight to each other with the aid of retaining screws (7). The retaining screws (7) are of light metal and a curing liquid seal (18) is between the housing flanges (4, 5) so as to lie against both sides. In this way, a connection for a light metal cylinder housing (2) with a crankcase (3) is achieved by using light metal housing materials. A reliable seal is provided which is permanently resistant to the operating loads of the engine (1).

  • Publication number: 20020078527
Abstract: The invention concerns a cabinet hinge with an adjusting device that is directly or indirectly on the cabinet side, single or multi-part mounting plate stored hinge arm, that is connected jointed with a door-side stop part, so that the adjusting device has a side adjusting screw by means of which the hinge arm's position perpendicular to the mounting plate can be changed to the door's side adjustment. The side adjusting device has a side adjusting screw with at least one eccentric- or cam disks so that by turning the side adjusting screw, a side adjustment and, at the same time, a parallel shifting of the hinge arm relative to the mounting plate occurs, resulting in a correction of the door's depth adjustment for an amount.
