  • Patent number: 6901142
Abstract: A network termination (NT) which is universally applicable and permits fair billing. The network termination (NT) according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a switching facility (DET, 1, 2, 3) whereby the interface (a/b, U) on the network side is switchable from an analog one (a/b) to a digital one (U). A subscriber who needs a digital interface, for example because he wants to have two B channels of the ISDN at his free disposal, can release a digital interface (U) or have it released. A subscriber who wants only an analog access can release an analog access or have it released. To accomplish this, the network termination (NT) contains a switch (3) and a detector (DET). The switching between analog access and digital access on the network side can be effected without replacement of the network termination (NT).

  • Patent number: 6884994
Abstract: The present invention provides scintillation material having good stability at continuous operating temperatures of at least 175° C. The scintillation material includes a cross linked copolymer with improved aromatic character that form a host plastic having properties of a thermoset polymer. The host plastic contains a primary fluorescent agent and a wavelength shifter. Preferably, the copolymer is comprised of a styrene derivative such as, for example, p-t-butylstyrene, and a higher melting point compound such as, for example, 4-vinylbiphenyl. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the scintillation material possesses properties of: good mechanical properties at high temperature (e.g., a Tg of about 180° C.); excellent light output (e.g., energy transfer efficiency); high hydrogen content for fast neutron detection; good optical transparency; and stable operation at temperature.

  • Publication number: 20040237495
Abstract: A yarn false twist texturing apparatus which includes a yarn heater, a yarn cooling device, and a yarn twisting unit serially arranged along a yarn path of travel. The cooling device is composed of a cooling tube, and yarn guides are arranged so that the yarn advances spirally on the surface of the outside periphery of the tube. A yarn lifter is positioned so as to lift the advancing yarn from contact with the outside periphery of the cooling tube over a partial length of the cooling tube, so that the cooling effect can be influenced without significantly changing the spiral looping on the cooling tube.

  • Patent number: 6457668
Abstract: An apparatus and method for guiding and cutting a continuously advancing yarn (1) during a package doff in a takeup device. The yarn is guided by means of a yarn guide (18) which is movable substantially parallel to a package or to a new tube (13), which is driven by a drive roll (29). Downstream of the yarn guide (18), a deflection device (2) and a suction device (37) are arranged, with the suction device comprising a pneumatic vacuum connection (46) and a cutter (47). The suction device (37) cooperates with a transfer device (42) for purposes of cutting the yarn during a package doff and receiving the loose end of the advancing yarn. To enable a gentle processing of the yarn during the package doff, the yarn guide (18) is arranged in the path of the advancing yarn upstream of the driven tube (13), and a deflection device (2) as well as the suction device (37) are arranged downstream of the driven tube.

  • Patent number: 6456915
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating an occupant safety device and a control unit for performing the method. To limit the power supplied to a triggering means from a storage element, the electrical power supplied after operating each triggering means is measured and after a definable power limiting value has been reached the power supplied to the triggering means is interrupted. The known methods based on the voltage at the storage element being the measure of the power supplied prove to be highly prone to error because these depend firstly on the charged state of the storage element and secondly very much on the conductor resistance so that incorrect control action can result.

  • Publication number: 20020051061
Abstract: According to the invention, live images, in particular, from a CCD camera are compressed in two different ways in a monitoring instrument. On the one hand, compression is carried out at a low resolution, for example by means of H.261, H.263 or MPEG. On the other hand, compression is carried out at a high resolution, for example by means of JPEG, synchronously with the compression at the low resolution. A time code is generated for each image. The time code is, for example, a chronological code which contains the date and time of day. The time code can also be generated implicitly via a timer which runs simultaneously. Each image is stored twice, on the one hand as an image compressed at low resolution and, on the other hand, as an image compressed at high resolution. The time codes, which indicate links between corresponding images, are also stored.
