    Abstract: A plasma display panel having a new structure is provided. The plasma display panel includes a rear substrate, a front substrate spaced apart from the rear substrate, barrier ribs disposed between the front substrate and the rear substrate and defining a plurality of discharge cells, first discharge electrodes extending in a first direction and including a plurality of first loops surrounding the discharge cell, second discharge electrodes extending in a second direction, and including a plurality of second loops surrounding the discharge cell, and crossing the first discharge electrodes, and phosphor layers disposed in the discharge cells. The first discharge electrodes may operate as an address electrode, and the second discharge electrodes may operate as a scan electrode. The first loop and the second loop may have elliptical and circular shapes, respectively.

    Abstract: A PDP with an increased aspect ratio and transmittance and that is capable of having barrier ribs securely engaged to substrates is provided. The PDP includes front and rear substrates arranged to face each other. Barrier ribs partition a plurality of discharge cells between the front substrate and the rear substrate. Engagement protrusions are formed on facing surfaces of the barrier ribs along edges of the front and rear substrates. The facing surfaces face the edges of the front and rear substrates. Engagement grooves are formed on facing surfaces of the front and rear substrates which face the barrier ribs. First and second electrodes are formed to extend in a first direction. Address electrodes are formed to extend in a second direction crossing the first and second electrodes. Phosphor layers are formed in each of the discharge cells. The engagement grooves are formed to correspond to the engagement protrusions.

    Abstract: A plasma display panel capable of being fast driven with low voltage by reducing a distance between an address electrode and a Y electrode. The plasma display panel includes a pair of substrates, barrier ribs, discharge electrodes, and an address electrode. The substrates are arranged at a predetermined interval to face each other and form a plurality of discharge spaces between facing surfaces of the substrates. The barrier ribs are arranged between the substrates to partition a space between the substrates into a plurality of discharge cells each having a horizontal cross-section of a circle or an oval. The discharge electrodes are arranged at predetermined intervals between the substrates. The address electrode is arranged a predetermined distance apart from the discharge electrodes in a substrate direction.
