Abstract: A barrier panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate having block region and transmission region; a liquid crystal layer between the first and second substrates, the liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules aligned in a predetermined direction; a plurality of barrier electrodes in the block region and the transmission region of the first substrate; a common electrode on the second substrate to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal layer with the plurality of barrier electrodes; a diffraction unit in the plurality of barrier electrodes to diffract the light transmitting therethrough; and a polarization plate over the second substrate, wherein an optical axis direction of the polarization plate is parallel to the alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecule to transmit an image through an area where the electric field is not applied.

Abstract: A stereoscopic display device including a barrier panel is provided. When a viewing distance of a viewer is out of the proper range, the stereoscopic display device may shift the blocking regions and the transmitting regions of the barrier panel. The stereoscopic display device may maintain the ratio of channels located within a barrier blocking region and a barrier transmitting region of the barrier panel by using the channels disposed within trigger regions of the barrier panel. Thus, the stereoscopic display device may provide a stereoscopic image of good quality to the viewer located at a region being out of the proper range.

Abstract: An ice bank of a refrigerator is provided. The ice bank includes an ice accommodation chamber storing ice pieces made by an ice maker, and an ice pressing unit circulating the ice pieces by pressing the ice pieces for preventing sticking of the ice pieces in the ice accommodation chamber.

The ice storage unit includes a housing, a storage basket that is removably coupled to the housing and that stores ice removed from the ice making unit to the ice storage unit, and a sensing apparatus that is provided at the housing and senses attachment or detachment of the storage basket. A controller controls transfer of ice produced by the ice making unit to the storage basket based on output from the sensing apparatus that indicates attachment or detachment of the storage basket.

A tray cover, a water flood prevention rib, and a rotation guide are provided to prevent flooding of water stored in an ice tray forming the ice maker while the refrigerator door is opened/closed. According to the ice maker and the refrigerator, reduction in a storage capacity of the refrigerator is prevented, flooding of water for making ice is prevented, and the ice maker can be more easily used.

Abstract: Disclosed are an ice bin installed in a refrigerator or the like and a refrigerating machine having the same. One auger having spiral transfer wings rotates to transfer ice cubes that are introduced between the transfer wings, which allows a constant amount of ice or an amount of ice selected by a user to be dispensed. In addition, a shutter is disposed at a lower side of the auger to define a dispensing space, which may reduce a length of a casing in a depth direction and, thereby, result in a reduced size of the ice bin.

Abstract: An ice making apparatus is provided. When an ice full detecting arm is not returned to an initial position by being caught on ice filled in the ice bank, it is determined that the ice bank is fully filled with the ice. Since the ice full detecting arm does not rotate when it is caught by the ice of the ice bank, the damage of the ice full detecting arm can be prevented.
