  • Publication number: 20110013564
Abstract: This invention provides a Mobile Station (MS) interworking with a Base Station (BS) which is compatible with a first protocol and a second protocol, the MS comprising: a synchronizing unit for synchronizing with the BS; a broadcast information obtaining unit for obtaining first protocol broadcast information from the BS; an operation mode selecting unit for selecting a first operation mode or a second operation mode according to whether the MS supports the first protocol or the second protocol, wherein when the MS supports the second protocol, second protocol MAP information is obtained according to the first protocol broadcast information, and data are transmitted via a prescribed channel to the BS according to the second protocol MAP information. Also, the present invention provides a method of MS network entry to communicate with a BS and a method of forming an IEEE 802.16m frame compatible with IEEE 802.16e frame. According to this invention, an IEEE 802.16e MS can access an IEEE 802.

  • Publication number: 20100316115
Abstract: Disclosed are method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving audio/video content data in wireless access networks. The method comprises the steps of: encoding the audio/video content data into a basic stream having a first level of quality and an advanced stream, combination of the basic stream and the advanced stream has a second level of quality higher than the first level of quality; and transmitting the basic stream and the advanced stream with a first power and a second power lower than the first power on antennas, respectively. With the method and apparatus of the invention, the low SINR users are able to maintain the low data rate receiving the basic stream and the high SINR user can receive both the basic stream and advanced stream from two logical channels.

  • Publication number: 20090018545
Abstract: An automatic bone traction device for correction bone deformities is disclosed. The automatic bone traction device can include a main body, a step motor, a series of transmission gears, and connectors. In one implementation, the step motor operates at a speed of eight steps per second, and the series of transmission gears can step down the motion of the step motor to two revolutions per day. The generated driving torque is then transmitted to a bone distractor, such as a commercially available intermittent distractor. The automatic bone traction device is capable of activating the bone distractor continuously at a rate of two revolutions per day. Advantageously, a flexible shaft is used to connect between the transmission gear assembly and the bone distractor. The flexible shaft allows the main body of the bone traction device to be mounted away from the bone distractor at a convenient location for the user.

  • Publication number: 20080151058
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for acquiring video data by using a camera mobile phone as a computer camera, which comprises: step A: the camera mobile phone is virtualized as a video-capturing device in a computer; step B: the mobile phone virtualized as the video-capturing device in step A is selected as current video-capturing device of the computer; step C: the computer sends a command for acquiring video data to the mobile phone selected as the current video-capturing device, and said mobile phone acquires video data according to the received command and transmits to the computer via wireless connection; and step D: the computer receives the video data transmitted from the mobile phone. The invention can achieve a resource sharing between the mobile phone and the computer, make full use of their functions, save the interface resource of the computer and enable the mobile phone to break down the capacity limitation during the acquisition of video data.

  • Publication number: 20060123005
Abstract: System, method and computer program product for supporting a plurality of Access Control List types for a file system in an operating system in a data processing system. An Access Control List supporting system for managing access to a file system in a data processing system has at least one file system in an operating system of the data processing system, and an Access Control List management framework in the operating system and external to the at least one file system for managing access to the at least one file system. The Access Control List supporting system of the invention removes ACL management and access check-related functions from the at least one file system to an external Access Control List management framework, thus enabling an operating system to support a plurality of Access Control List types using the same Access Control List management framework and enabling new Access Control List types to be added to the operating system dynamically while the operating system is running.

  • Patent number: 6714953
Abstract: A system and method for including export information in the file system extended attribute data area is provided. File export information is determined by a system administrator or automated process. The determined export information is stored in an extended attribute data area corresponding with the file. When a computer system issues mount commands for the file systems to be mounted, the file system provides export information included in the extended attributes to the kernel whereupon the kernel exports the file system. Maintenance of file export information is thereby reduced. Backup, replications, and restorations of file systems is simplified by maintaining the export information along with the files being backed, replicated, or restored. For example, when the system administrator backs up a file, the export information in the extended attributes is backed-up as well. When the file system is retrieved, the export information is also retrieved within the extended attributes.

  • Publication number: 20030177107
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for exporting file systems without having to mount them first are provided. Most Unix-based servers usually mount some system operation critical files at startup. Thus, directories have to be mounted. One or more of these directories are usually used as mount points for mounting other file systems when needed. An extended attribute file is used to provide all information needed to export a file system. Thus, a server need not mount a file system to obtain this information. That is on startup, a server needs only refer to these extended attribute files to obtain the information needed to export the file systems.
