  • Publication number: 20230413212
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) activating and/or deactivating user equipment (UE)/WTRU-provided data network (UPDN). The WTRU may advertise availability of UPDN a (e.g., 5G) network. A UPDN software application may be transferred onto and/or installed on a WTRU to implement a UPDN. A WTRU may be authenticated and/or authorized to a host for a given UPDN instance, UPDN installation and/or update may be configured if an authentication fails because a UPDN software application is not up-to-date and/or not installed. A WTRU may provide information to a service provider for installing UPDN and/or update UPDN software. Control connectivity and/or path selection for UPDN may be configured by one or more WTRU route selection policy (URSP) rules. A UPDN profile and/or UPDN subscription profile may be configured in a system (e.g., 5G system (5GS)). UPDN may be provisioned in a (e.g., 5G) network.

  • Publication number: 20230412516
Abstract: Procedures, methods, architectures, apparatuses, systems, devices, and computer program products that may be implemented in wireless communications. In one representative method, the WTRU may send one or more age of information (AoI) preferences for a traffic flow to a network entity, and the WTRU may receive one or more AoI rules for the traffic flow from the network entity. The WTRU may receive a packet associated with the traffic flow, and the received packet may include an indication of AoI of the packet. The WTRU may send one or more additional AoI preferences to the network entity, such as upon determining that any of the AoI preferences and/or AoI rules are not satisfied based on the indication of AoI. The indication of AoI may correspond to a processing state of the packet along a path in a network and/or to a time since the packet was created.

  • Publication number: 20230379985
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, systems, etc., directed to support provisioning domains (PvDs) in 5G networks are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, a network entity running a policy control function (PCF), may send to a wireless receive and transmit unit (WTRU) at least one WTRU route selection policy (URSP) rule associated with, for example, PvD descriptors. For example, URSP rules may be configured e.g., as part of the subscription profile and PvD descriptors may be configured e.g., as part of a network-wide configuration. An application function (AF) may use a network exposure function (NEF) application programming interface (API) to access and, for example, update, e.g. through any of NEF and PCF, any of URSP rules and PvD descriptors. According to embodiments, a WTRU may participate in a data network access identifier (DNAI) selection by including a PvD ID in, for example, PDU session establishment messages.

  • Publication number: 20230308947
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed herein for establishing a connection between a network node and a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). A network node (e.g., a user plane function (UPF)) may receive a connection request message from another network node (e.g., a session management function). The connection request may indicate a request to establish a connection between the network node (e.g., the UPF) and a WTRU. The connection request message may indicate a header compression configuration (HCC) supported by a proxy. The network node may receive a request message from the WTRU indicating an HCC supported by the WTRU. The network node may determine a supported HCC using the HCC supported by the proxy and the HCC supported by the WTRU. The network node may configure the proxy to use the supported HCC. The network node may establish a connection with the WTRU.

  • Publication number: 20230308985
Abstract: A wireless transmit / receive unit, WTRU, connects to a first AP, receives domain identifiers, requests corresponding descriptors and receives a list of descriptors. An application on the WTRU requests a list of domains and attributes corresponding to service names or service sets, which is returned by the WTRU. The application selects one or more domains for communications, the WTRU selects corresponding network resources and the application connects to local services. After moving to a new location, the WTRU connects to a second AP and receives a second set of domain identifiers, selects the one matching the request from the application and provides these to the application that, with the aid of the WTRU connects to local services.

  • Publication number: 20180227390
Abstract: Network nodes are described. A network node includes a transmitter, a receiver and a processor. The transmitter transmits at least one signal advertising the network node as the source of at least one specific content located outside of an information centric network (ICN) or a specific domain or all content located outside of the ICN. The receiver receives a request, from a requesting device, including an identifier for a piece of content for which the at least one signal advertised the ICN as the source of. The processor, in conjunction with the transmitter and the receiver, determines a forwarding rule for the request based at least on the identifier included in the request, forwards the request based on the determined forwarding rule, receives the piece of content, and forwards the received piece of content to the requesting device. The network node may be a Border Gateway translating between ICN and IP networking.

  • Publication number: 20170142226
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, devices, and computer program products directed to enabling federation 200 of multiple independent networks 204A, 204B, 204C, 204D through hash-routing based peering (HRP) and/or summary-routing based peering (SRP) are provided. Pursuant to new methodologies and/or technologies provided herein the multiple independent networks self-organize, or otherwise assemble, as a federation of network peers. The network peers 204A, 204B, 204C, 204D cooperate to pool and/or merge resources to make available for the federation 200 a population of content objects. As members of the federation, each of the network peers undertakes responsibility for making available to other network peers a share of the population. The multiple independent networks establish connectivity and federate using an HRP protocol. Pursuant to the HRP protocol, the network peers allocate amongst themselves respective key ranges within a hash-value space of a hash function.

  • Patent number: 9621537
Abstract: An application server receives a request for service from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) associated with a home network that includes a home subscriber server (HSS) and a bootstrapping server function (BSF) coupled via a Zh reference point. The application server authenticates the WTRU at least in part by (i) redirecting the WTRU to an identity provider co-located with a network application function (IDP/NAF) and coupled to the BSF via a Zn reference point and (ii) receiving an assertion from the WTRU that the IDP/NAF has authenticated the WTRU based on user security settings retrieved from the BSF by the IDP/NAF over the Zn reference point. After authenticating the WTRU, the application server (i) retrieves user-specific Sh-reference-point-type data from the HSS via the IDP/NAF over the Zn and Zh reference points and (ii) provides the service to the WTRU based on the retrieved user-specific Sh-reference-point-type data.
