  • Publication number: 20150229465
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for synchronizing mobile station (i.e., wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)) media flows during a collaboration session. Inter-WTRU transfer request messages, flow addition request messages and session update request messages may be exchanged between a plurality of WTRUs and a session continuity control application server (SCC-AS). Each of the messages may include a session description protocol (SDP) attribute line containing time synchronization information (e.g., a presentation time offset (PTO) information element (IE), a media flow group identity (ID) and a synchronization tolerance IE). The SCC-AS may update the time synchronization information and include the updated information in messages it sends to the WTRUs, which may re-synchronize their respective media flows based on the updated time synchronization information.

  • Patent number: 9049100
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for forwarding content delivery network interconnection (CDNI) signaling. A CDNI router content delivery network (CDN) may establish CDNIs with upstream and downstream CDNs. The CDNI router CDN may receive a CDNI route advertisement message from at least one of the upstream and downstream CDNs. The CDNI router CDN may update at least one end-user-based CDNI routing table based on Internet protocol (IP) address blocks in the CDNI route advertisement message. • Publication number: 20150142986
Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling proximity services to be delivered as part of an application service and/or for providing tailored services and/or a differential quality of service (QoS) to a flow may be disclosed. For example, a temporary service name between an application and a server such as a D2D server may be established such that a UE and/or network may execute such a service at a later time without later involvement by the application and/or without exchanging credentials for the application with the network and vice versa.

  • Publication number: 20150120833
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for providing a dynamic cache function in a network or cloud. A content cache server (CCS) and a lightweight CCS with a dynamic cache function may be deployed in the network or cloud. A tracker may be used to place dynamic cache peers in a peer list, and transmit the peer list to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The peer list may include a single peer that is a dynamic cache peer allocated by the tracker to the WTRU, or at least two dynamic cache peers, with one additional “weight” parameter for each dynamic cache peer. The WTRU may connect to the dynamic cache peer with the largest “weight” parameter, and connect to a different dynamic cache peer in the peer list on a condition that the WTRU gets disconnected or gets bad service from the dynamic cache peer with the largest “weight” parameter.

  • Publication number: 20150044989
Abstract: An apparatus and method are described for sponsoring service and preferential traffic handling, (i.e., data connectivity) by wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs). A first WTRU may initiate user sponsoring of a second WTRU via an application server (AS). The first WTRU may receive a service trigger from the AS and forward the service trigger to the second WTRU. The second WTRU may then initiate a sponsored session with the AS using the service trigger in order to receive a service from the AS. The first WTRU may also request the AS to transfer a credit to the second WTRU. The AS may establish a direct communication link with a charging system including an online charging function (OCF) and a charging data function (CDF). The AS may send a request to a network to provide preferential traffic handling needed to deliver content to the second WTRU.

  • Publication number: 20150003438
Abstract: A WTRU may receive a first data flow from a source device such as a correspondence node and perform a seamless IUT such that the correspondent node is unaware that the flow has been transferred to a different WTRU. The WTRU may register with a first home agent, wherein the first home agent receives a plurality of messages addressed for a home address. The home agent may forward the messages to the WTRU at a first care-of-address. The WTRU may send a binding update to the first home agent. The binding update may comprise a second traffic selector and a second action. The second action may specify that a second message of the plurality of messages is to be forwarded to a different WTRU when the second message matches the second traffic selector.

  • Publication number: 20140245359
Abstract: Embodiments contemplate the movement of mobile node (MN) from a first access network to a second access network, while in communication with a CDN server (e.g. a surrogate providing a multimedia streaming session). The server selection may become sub-optimal as a result of this movement. A first CDN may learn about MN mobility event via the MN, an access network node, the server, or another node. The first CDN may trigger reselection by upstream CDN by sending a CDNI reselection request message, including information for the upstream CDN to perform request routing for the MN with the specified content, at a different location. The upstream CDN may perform the request routing procedure. The upstream CDN may return the request routing result to first CDN. The initial server may send a redirection message back to the application, which may interpret the message and continue streaming from a different server.

  • Publication number: 20140237078
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing content storage subsystems in a communications network are disclosed. The communications network is equipped with a plurality of content storage subsystems. The content storage subsystems store local copies of content to facilitate the delivery and distribution of the content to wireless transmit/receive units, WTRUs. The network, which is equipped with a proxy server and an entry server, receives requests for content or general-purpose data referencing content and determines whether the content is stored in the storage subsystems. In addition, the network also performs content ingestion in order to store copies of the content in the storage subsystems and content modification in order to move content from one storage location to another to achieve optimal content storage and distribution.

  • Publication number: 20130084829
Abstract: A method and apparatus for interworking between a mobile network operator and an application provider are disclosed. A network application function (NAF) may be co-located with an OpenID provider such that an application server may communicate with the NAF to access a home subscriber server (HSS) via a bootstrapping server function (BSF). The interfaces between BSF and HSS, and between BSF and NAF may be enhanced to carry information that is available through Sh interface between the application server and the HSS. When the WTRU is roaming in a visited network, the application server may communicate with the visited network for charging and policing for serving the service request from the WTRU. The application server may be co-located with an NAF, and may authenticate the WTRU using Generic Bootstrapping Architecture, and may communicate with a BSF in a home network via an eZn-proxy function to access an HSS.

  • Publication number: 20130007186
Abstract: A tracker application server (AS) instructs a content cache server (CCS) to join a peer-to-peer (P2P) swarm based on the status of the P2P swarm. The tracker AS determines whether to invite a CCS to join the P2P swarm be based on an underlying network condition change, a peer node joining or leaving the P2P swarm, change(s) in traffic condition, location, capability or workload of the peer node(s) in the swarm. The tracker AS sends an invitation message to the CCS, indicating the content of interest and a peer list identifying the peer nodes of the P2P swarm. Upon receiving the invitation message from the tracker AS, the CCS sends a response to the tracker AS. Upon receiving a response indicating the acceptance of the invitation, the tracker AS puts the CCS into the P2P swarm, and the CCS joins the swarm using a P2P protocol.
