  • Publication number: 20100143421
Abstract: A process for the production of water-containing silicone rubber device comprising the steps of mixing an external phase comprising an organopolysiloxane polymer having at least two reactive groups per molecule, a water in oil emulsifier and where required one or more active ingredients and/or optional additives; with an internal phase comprising water and optionally one or more active ingredients to form an emulsion; and subsequently introducing a cure package comprising a cure package comprising a suitable catalyst, which will be determined by the cure reaction between the polymer and where required a cross-linker, and which contains more than two reactive groups, designed to react with the reactive groups in the polymer in the presence of said catalyst in order to cure the external phase of the composition, thereby entrapping the water within the body of said water-containing silicone rubber device.
