  • Publication number: 20100295765
Abstract: A LCD Device of improvement of flicker upon switching frame rate and method for the same are proposed. The LCD device includes a pixel matrix, a timing controller and a gate driver. The timing controller outputs a first Gate-On-Enable signal to the gate driver, when the LCD device displays frame according to a first frame rate. When the first frame rate is switched to a second frame rate, the timing controller outputs a second Gate-On-Enable signal to the gate driver to cause a charge time of the pixel matrix unchanged. It is appreciated that a pulse width of the second Gate-On-Enable signal is equal to a summation of a pulse width of the first Gate-On-Enable signal and an adjusted pulse width.

  • Publication number: 20100149114
Abstract: Disclosed is a single-touch screen interface that supports two operational states. First is a traditional single-touch state. Second is a “simulated multi-touch state” which allows the user to interact with the single-touch screen in much the same way as he would interact with a multi-touch screen. The user, while in the single-touch state, selects the simulated multi-touch state by performing a special “triggering” action, such as clicking or double clicking on the display screen. The location of the triggering input defines a “reference point” for the simulated multi-touch state. While in the simulated multi-touch state, this reference point is remembered, and it is combined with further touch input to control a simulated multi-touch operation. When the simulated multi-touch operation is complete, the interface returns to the single-touch state. In some embodiments, the user can also leave the simulated multi-touch state without completing a simulated multi-touch operation.

  • Patent number: 7505632
Abstract: The present invention relates to method, apparatus and storage medium for enhancing document image, and method, apparatus and storage medium for character recognition. For enhancing the document image especially half-tone block image and improving the recognition ratio thereof, the block image is segmented into line images, which are subject to noise reduction. Then, based on the connected component densities, the noise-reduced line images are sorted into three types including normal line image, broken-stroke line image and hollow-stroke line image. Based on their types and other properties, the noise-reduced line images are enhanced, generating enhanced line images, which as a whole constitutes an enhanced block image.

The apparatus comprises a timing controller, a scale-tuned circuit and a digital-to-analog converter. The timing controller receives an a-bit grayscale value, and outputs a selection signal and a b-bit control signal, wherein a, b are both positive integers and a>b>=1. The selection signal has two states: if the grayscale value is less than or equal to 2a?2c, wherein c is equal to a?b, the selection signal is in a first state; and if the grayscale value is equal to 2a?2c+n, wherein n is an integer and 0<n<2c, the selection signal has a probability of n/2c to be in a second state, and has a probability of 1?n/2c to be in the first state.

  • Patent number: 6846113
Abstract: Locally heated low temperature solder glass is used to permanently fix an optical fiber with sub-micron precision to a glass ceramic submount inside a high power pump laser module. The fiber is manipulated into a predetermined alignment while the solder glass is still molten and the solder glass is then cooled to its solidified state. The predetermined alignment may include an offset to compensate for subsequent thermally related dimensional changes as the solder glass cools and solidifies. If necessary, the solder glass can be remelted and the fiber realigned with a different offset if the first alignment attempt is less than optimal. This alignment process has been demonstrated to provide reliable and efficient coupling of an optical fiber to a high power pump laser within very tight tolerances. A similar process can also be applied to other micro-optics assemblies where high precision, high reliability fiber fixing is required.

  • Publication number: 20020181102
Abstract: An optical signal filter for providing a periodic transfer function in transmitting signals within a selected bandwidth, by which passbands are interleavered into groups of separate outputs. The filter employs the transmissivity characteristic of birefringent crystals in conjunction with splitting the input beam into orthogonal and separate components, while compensating for temperature variations by pairing crystals of different types. The transmissivity functions are independent of the polarization of the input beam, and are shaped to flatten transmissivity peaks by the use of cascaded stages of birefringent crystal pairs.

  • Patent number: 6434287
Abstract: A fast acting, low insertion loss switch for use in an optical fiber communication system includes a small diameter waist region incorporating a Bragg grating which is precisely tuned by tensioning to be reflective at a selective wavelength band. By a small physical shift of the waist, as by lateral displacement of an attached small magnetic element with a magnetic field, the periodicity of the grating is varied so that the selected wavelength is passed through the waist with virtually no loss. The incremental motion required can be introduced by a variety of devices, selected in accordance with cost, size and response time requirements. Modules having a number of such switches in close juxtaposition offer distinct advantages for wavelength division multiplexed systems.
