  • Publication number: 20120244416
Abstract: A method for beam welding a multi-sheet work stack includes positioning a first sheet adjacent to a second sheet, and positioning a third sheet adjacent to the second sheet such that a single common welding interface is defined. An energy beam is directed onto the interface until a fusion weld forms along the interface. The third sheet may define a flange or a tab portion. The flange portion may be placed in direct contact with the first sheet along the interface, while the tab portion may be inserted into a slot of the second sheet to contact the first sheet at the interface. The beam may be a laser or ion beam. The lower melting temperature sheet may be positioned farther from the source of the energy beam than the other sheets. The welded assembly may be a battery module, with the sheets being an interconnect member and battery tabs.

  • Publication number: 20120115010
Abstract: An assembly for a vehicle includes a first member including a plurality of elastically deformable locating protrusions extending outward, and a second member defining a cavity extending inward and including a plurality of elastically deformable compression features disposed within the cavity. The locating protrusions of the first member are disposed within the cavity of the second member in press fit engagement with the compression features of the second member to secure the first member relative to the second member. The average of the elastic deformation between all of the locating protrusions of the first member and all of the compression features of the second member precisely aligns the first member relative to the second member. The assembly may include but is not limited to a multiple unit battery pack, a multiple unit fuel cell pack, a dashboard assembly or adjoining body panels.

  • Publication number: 20110278034
Abstract: A portable angle impact tool includes a housing, a motor, and a transmission mechanism. The transmission mechanism includes a transmission rod extending along an axis X, a spindle extending along an axis Y perpendicular to the axis X, an impact assembly for driving an output shaft and connected with the spindle, a first transmission element positioned on the transmission rod and engaging with a second transmission element positioned on the spindle, and a pinion positioned on of the transmission rod engaging with a gear on a motor shaft of the motor. In a direction of the axis Y, the impact assembly and the spindle are located on one side of the second transmission element and the longitudinal axis X of the transmission rod is located on the other side of the second transmission element to provide the impact tool with a more compact arrangement and higher output power from the output shaft.

  • Publication number: 20100126639
Abstract: The magnesium-contained high-silicon aluminum alloys for use as structural materials, including profiles, bars, sheets, and forgings, are manufactured by a process including the steps of: casting an alloy ingot by direct chill casting, preheating the ingot to disperse eutectic Si phase particles, and thermal-plastic processing and heat-treating to obtain the product with a final shape and a modified microstructure. The aluminum alloys contain 0.2˜2.0 wt % of Mg and 8˜18 wt % of Si, and have homogeneous and fine microstructure, wherein the aluminum matrix is equiaxed with an average grain size less than 6 ?m, and the silicon and second phase particles are dispersed with an average size less than 5 ?m. Without adding any modifiers, they are low-costly produced by incorporating the direct chill casting with thermal-plastic processing and heat treatment, which give rise to good plasticity and relatively high strength.
