  • Publication number: 20050078555
Abstract: The logging tool of this invention includes a transmitter conveyed on a drilling collar for exciting a quadrupole signal in a borehole being drilled by a drill bit and a receiver for receiving the signal. The transmitter is operated at a frequency below the cut-off frequency of the quadrupole collar mode. The received signal consists primarily of the formation quadrupole mode which, at low frequencies, has a velocity that approaches the formation shear velocity. The transmitter, in one embodiment, consists of eight equal sectors of a piezoelectric cylinder mounted on the rim of the drilling collar. The value of the cut-off frequency is primarily dependent on the thickness of the drilling collar. Alternatively, the transmitter may be operated to produce both the collar mode and the formation mode and a processor may be used to filter out the collar mode.

  • Publication number: 20050075789
Abstract: Method and apparatus for deriving information regarding a subsurface geophysical formation. Well logging data is acquired for the subsurface geophysical formation. Geometrical parameters for the subsurface geophysical formation are determined by inversion processing of the acquired well logging data in a pattern space while formation conductivities for the subsurface geophysical formation are determined by inversion processing of the acquired well logging data in a measurement space. The processing may be iteratively applied until satisfied formation parameters are achieved.

  • Publication number: 20050076220
Abstract: A method and system for issuing fingerprint keys and anti-spam points to meet the needs of email marketers to get their legitimate emails delivered without spamming recipients. Minimum modification to the recipient's email server is introduced to enable it to communicate with servers for registration/authentication purposes. For every email sent from a sender to a recipient using the system built upon the present invention, the sender's allotment of anti-spam points would be deducted by a fixed or varied number, depending on the specific implementation of the particular embodiment of the present invention. The method allows advertisers to buy anti-spam points from the service provider and provides a method to redistribute the payment to recipients of the advertisements.

  • Publication number: 20050074600
Abstract: Thick film magnetic/insulating nanocomposite materials, with significantly reduced core loss, and their manufacture are described. The insulator coated magnetic nanocomposite comprises one or more magnetic components, and an insulating component. The magnetic component comprises nanometer scale particles (about 1 to about 100 nanometers) coated by a thin-layered insulating phase. While the intergrain interaction between the immediate neighboring magnetic nanoparticles separated by the insulating phase provides the desired soft magnetic properties, the insulating material provides high resistivity, which reduces eddy current loss.

  • Publication number: 20050076348
Abstract: An optical disc drive having a tray moved by the spindle motor is disclosed. The optical disc drive at least comprises a chassis, a tray, a spindle motor, a transmission chain and a coupling apparatus. The tray is mounted on the chassis for carrying a disc. The spindle motor is used for rotationally driving the disc. The transmission chain is used for moving the tray. The coupling apparatus selectively couples the transmission chain and the spindle motor. When the coupling apparatus is started, the transmission chain is coupled to the spindle motor, and the power generated from the spindle motor is transmitted to the tray through the transmission chain, so as to power the movement of tray for in-and-out of the optical disc drive. Thus, the invention does not require a conventional tray motor, so as to decrease the production cost.

  • Publication number: 20050068387
Abstract: The ink cartridge comprises a cartridge body with an ink chamber. On one side of the cartridge body is provided an ink supply port, and an air channel is positioned on the opposite side. The ink chamber is composed of a main chamber and a communicating sub-chamber, and ink-out inspection prism being provided close to the communicating portion. A check valve through which the sub-chamber is communicated with the ink supply port is provided sideways between the sidewalls adjacent to the ink supply port. In this invention, the nominal volume of each ink cartridge is increased, and there is no such problem that a certain amount of ink continues to be fed after the ink-out indicative signal being sent out in case of no porous material. Further, the technical solution of the sideways-provided check valve improves the manufacturability and the ink supply stability.

  • Publication number: 20050068927
Abstract: This invention discloses a method of transmitting data through Local Area Network by abandoning the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to eliminate the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) and avoid unnecessary delay and communication flow. The present invention also abandons the concept of TCP/IP address, so that it is not necessary to maintain the huge TCP/IP address database in wireless LAN in order to implement the gapless roaming and reduce packet conflict during the transmission process by defining a smaller capacity for the data packet head in the high-speed wireless LAN standard IEEE 802.11 protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050070206
Abstract: A slider is described with a resistive electro-lapping guide (ELG), which is aligned with a structure in the write head such as the throat height or trailing shield thickness and extends from the lapping region through the ABS and is connected to pads on the surface of the slider. In a second embodiment the ELG is disposed entirely in the section of the slider which will be removed by lapping. Another embodiment of the invention is a system for single slider lapping which simultaneously monitors the resistance of the read sensor or a read head ELG and at least one ELG that is aligned with a structure in the write head. A controller uses the resistance information to implement an algorithm which decides when lapping should be terminated.
