Also described are a method and apparatus including receiving a registration message, transmitting a reply to the registration message, receiving a recovery request message, transmitting recovery data responsive to the recovery request message and transmitting a message to a recovery multicast group to determine status of the recovery multicast group.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for managing content distribution over multiple terminal devices in collaborative media system are provided. In the collaborative media system, a first media data is transmitted over a first channel path to a first media terminal and a second media data relevant to the first media data is transmitted over a second channel to a second media terminal. The method comprises: detecting a quality of the first media data on the first channel path and that of the second media data on the second channel path; upon detection the quality of the first media data being lower than a first predetermined value and that of the second media data being greater than a second predetermined value, transmitting the second media data over the second channel path, instead of the first media data over the first channel path, to the first media terminal (S204).

Abstract: It is provided a method for content presentation during trick mode operations, wherein a first content file is associated with a plurality of content items and each content item corresponds to a content segment of the first content file, the method comprises the steps of receiving an instruction for a chosen trick mode operation when a content segment of the first content file is played; and performing the chosen trick mode operation on the content segment of the first content file and meanwhile playing at least one content item among the plurality of content items, wherein, the at least one content item corresponds to the content segment of the first content file and the chosen trick mode operation.

Abstract: An object tracking and recognition system are provided and comprise a video device for getting the image information of an object in the detection range of the object tracking and recognition system; and a radio frequency identification (RFID) device for detecting signal strength of a radio frequency (RF) tag of the object; wherein the video device is turned on to get the image information of the object upon the detected signal strength reaching a predetermined signal strength threshold.

Abstract: An adaptive and scalable packet error correction apparatus and method in a wireless multicast network is provided. Each retransmission request from a receiver contains a round number and the number of repairs sent in that round. At each receiver, there are two counters for counting the rounds sent out on the network and the number of repairs that have been required. A receiver on the wireless multicast network listens to the ARQ requests sent by other receivers to update the two counters and determines whether its request should be suppressed or be sent out.

The method comprises steps of receiving status messages from the first device and the second device, wherein the status messages comprise information about playback positions of the first content and the second content currently being playbacked at the presentation level of the first device and the second device; and in response to differences between playback positions of the first content and the second content comprised in the status messages being above a threshold value, performing adjustment to maintain difference of playback positions of the first content and the second content at the presentation level of the first device and the second device below the threshold value.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a kit for determining whether a head and neck cancer is HPV-related. In one embodiment, an RNAscope® HPV assay was designed to detect the presence of E6/E7 mRNA of certain high-risk HPV subtypes related to head and neck cancer. The present invention also provides a method and a kit for determining whether a cervical lesion is a benign lesion or a cervical intraepithethial neoplasm lesion. The present invention further provides a method for determining the progression of cervical intraepithethial neoplasm based on the spatial pattern and levels of the E6/E7 mRNA of certain high-risk HPV subtypes. The present invention also provides a method for determining the risk of developing cervical cancer in a human diagnosed with cervical intraepithethial neoplasm based on presence and absence of the certain subgroups of high-risk HPV subtypes.

Abstract: The disclosure includes the use of gene expression profiles, or patterns, with clinical relevance to breast cancer. In particular, the disclosure provides the identities of genes that are expressed in correlation with the presence of breast cancer, the grade of breast cancer, and the type of breast cancer. The disclosed methods assist in the detection and identification of breast cancer in a patient and so helps determine treatment and clinical outcome, and so prognosis, for the patient. The gene expression levels, whether embodied in nucleic acid expression, protein expression, or other expression formats, may be used detect the presence of in situ or invasive breast cancer.

Abstract: It provides a method for encoding a set of elements by using components defining the structure of each of the set of elements, wherein each element comprises data structure information and at least one data value. The method comprises the steps of: selecting a current element for encoding; determining whether the current element has the same data structure information as a previously encoded element; in the negative, encoding the data structure information of the current element and the at least one data value of the current element; and in the affirmative, encoding the at least one data value of the current element and providing an indication value associated with the current element indicating the current element has the same data structure information as said previously encoded element. The method is used to reduce the encoding redundancy of the structure information.

Abstract: A user accessing a media service desires to find out more information about the media service by formulating a query, by operation of an input device, where a region of interest of said media service is selected by the user. The query is submitted to other users who are defined by various tiers defined by different types of criteria. The users belonging to such tiers respond back to the query with new information, which is rendered on the media device being used by the user. Such responses are then rendered on the media device of the user. Optionally, a computer assistance mode is operated where keywords are extracted from said communications between users, and such keywords a used to obtain additional results from a resource such as a search engine.
