(1) Maleic anhydride and 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone are dissolved in tetrahydrofuran to obtain a mixture. (2) In a protective gas atmosphere, the mixture obtained in step (1) is added with a catalyst and stirred, centrifuged with added water, and an obtained precipitate is dried, thereby achieving the maleic anhydride modified voltage stabilizer. The present invention also provides the use of the maleic anhydride modified voltage stabilizer in a cross-linked polyethylene high voltage AC cable insulating material.
